LE MARS, Iowa Newt Gingrichs campaign said on Wednesday that it had raised close to $9 million in the last quarter of the year, a significant improvement over the six-figure sum it raised over the summer, reflecting a flood of small donors who responded to Mr. Gingrichs debate performances and propelled his surge to the top of polls this month.
But as his momentum has evaporated under the assault of rival campaigns, especially those of the better financed candidates Mitt Romney and Representative Ron Paul of Texas, Mr. Gingrich plans to spend nearly all of his available cash in the remaining days before the Jan. 3 caucuses, including $500,000 for television advertisements.
We will have a positive balance of cash on hand hence Im still getting paid, said R.C. Hammond, Mr. Gingrichs spokesman. Any good campaign three days before the Iowa caucuses wont have a lot of cash on hand because it will deplete its resources in an all-out effort to do well.
Besides television, the campaign is spending noticeably on an eight-day bus tour here, Mr. Gingrichs first, and on a four-person staff from New York who arrived this week to identify supporters at campaign events, all of which have been well attended.
Mr. Hammond pointedly compared Mr. Gingrichs fourth-quarter fund-raising total to that of Senator John McCain at the same point in 2007. Mr. McCain, reduced to living off the land with scant funds in Iowa, lost here but went on to win the nomination.
But no matter how Mr. Gingrich does in Iowa a poll Wednesday showed him in a statistical tie with Mr. Paul and Rick Santorum, behind Mr. Romney he will face serious money challenges going forward...

If this race boils down to the statist Mitt Romney and his allies in the liberal media aided and abetted by Karl Rove & the establishment GOP vs Newt Gingrich, Newt is going to need all the help he can get. Freedoms not free and neither are grassroots campaigns against the entrenched ruling class!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
Good morning, Jim!
I am bookmarking this article with all the links you posted.
Obama’s economy being what it is -— unconscionable -— I had to dip into the money I had saved for Sarah Palin, but after I sponsor the first ten New Monthly Donors on the first day of next year, I’m going to send the money I have left to Newt Gingrich.
Rebellion is brewing - you betcha!!
now isn’t this beyond a bit of a believe?
I do treasure that one pic of Newt sunbathing on a rock in Greece on holiday this past summer/s & as the MSM took him apart for his Tiffany’s purchases & his campaign people abandoned him completly. So Newt pd his bill. Now who is funding him?
You think i’m gonna’ vote for this weasel?
HELL NO and that inclued MITTENS
Thanks Jim. Let’s get the rebellion going!
Go Newt!
Retread zot.
***Mitt Romney and his allies in the liberal media***
Surprise!! Fox just announced an interview with Newt this next hour.
Must have had viewers complaining about their love fest “All Mitt all the time”.
Staying tuned - with rubber gloves and face mask;)
Woo-Hoo!
Good morning, sodpoodle!
Now, I will turn on the TV to watch Newt Gingrich!
Fox n’ Friends, not the Newt hating troll Imus who’s supporting Romney.
Can’t keep my eyes open any longer. Had a pot of coffee over dinner, but it’s wearing off. Hope to hear about his interview in the morning, er, afternoon.
G’morning. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy Newt Year;)
I’m getting too old for this roller-coaster.
Reading the threads - find it ironic that Rick Santorum’s supporters misspell his name ‘Santorium’. That’s gotta hurt!
(((Jim))). I and others will look for a link to his interview. I’ll need a nap today because I got up too early even though I was sound sleep before 9:00PM last night. Sweet rest and dreams, dearest you.

Here’s a bump.We are waiting to see how Santorum does in Iowa.
Stayed up long enough to catch the interview. Great job so far. Imagine the nerve of that guy repeating the Chicago Tribune lie that Newt supported abortion in 1995! Newt knocked it out of the park!
Sheesh! And they don’t bother mentioning Romney’s very real love affair with baby murder that started in 1972 when his mother convinced him that abortion should be safe and legal in America and that’s still continuing today thanks to RomneyCare:
