Bachmann's Iowa Co-Chairman Bolts To Back Paul By NBC's Athony Terrell, Jamie Novogrod, Alex Moe and Domenico Montanaro
One of the most prominent Iowa supporters of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign jumped ship late Wednesday, announcing just days before the state's Jan. 3 caucus that he would instead back Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
Iowa state Sen. Kent Sorenson, one of three Iowa co-chairmen for Bachmann's campaign, made an appearance at a Veterans for Ron Paul event this evening where he endorsed the Texas congressman in Tuesday's caucuses.
Sorenson, in a statement distributed by Paul's campaign, said he had "an immense amount of respect" for Bachmann, but had essentially judged her to have fallen out of contention in the caucuses.
"But the fact is, there is a clear top tier in the race for the Republican nomination for president, both here in Iowa and nationally," Sorenson said. "Ron Paul is easily the most conservative of this group."
Bachmann accused Sorenson of being a sell-out in a statement released Wednesday evening.
"Kent Sorenson personally told me he was offered a large sum of money to go to work for the Paul campaign," she said, accusing Paul of trying to stymie her campaign's momentum. "Kent said to me yesterday that 'everyone sells out in Iowa, why shouldn't I,' then he told me he would stay with our campaign. The Ron Paul campaign has to answer for its actions."

Right on. When Perot ran in 1992 he was leading in the polls. A little known poll by Charles Black taken on election night in 1992. If Perot had a chance to win who would who have voted for? Perot won with 40% of the vote.This was never reported on election night by the MSM.

FYI, Dr. Paul has, on numerous occasions, specifically disavowed the so-called “Truther” movement and clearly stated his disbelief in that gaggle of idiocy. And THAT was in 2008. I have not heard that he changed his mind.
Ron Paul is a fruit cake. If he, Romney or Obama wins the 2012 election the GOP is finished. It might be anyways.

The story speaks volumes about the type of people she has been hiring from Ed Rollins right on down the line. I like Mickey B (gave her $$$ in 2010) but she has made bad decisions in who she surrounds herself with.
Wrong. Perot won something like 18-19% of the vote in 1992. He essentially came in third place behind Bill Clinton and GHWB. Perot siphoned off enough votes from GHWB to secure the win for WJC.
I’ve seen enough Ron Paul, from Ron Paul, to know he is a complete whack job. The one area where he is sane is economics.
His foreign policy alone would get us all killed.

Your proof of both his “insanity” and the results of his foreign policy would be...??? Just because his way is not YOUR way is not an indicator of his mental state, only that you disagree with him.
Personally, I believe our most pressing problem, the one that will .determine whether or not our Constitutional Republic will survive, is the unfettered growth of FedGov. The ONLY candidate willing to discuss that issue is Dr. Paul. All else is secondary. No moose slime anywhere can defeat or conquer us; only we can do it ourselves and we’re sure well on the way to doing that, what with growth of government at home and continuous wars and nation-building abroad. Spending our treasures and the lives of our young on all these foreign adventures will be one of the final nails in the coffin of the Republic and the start of the American Empire. That is NOT what I want to hand off to my son and granddaughter. I want them to have the freedom the Founders handed off to THEIR progeny. Not the police state we’re building now, with constant welfare and warfare.
