“A majority of my friends support Romney and I live in a very conservative little town where the Reagan Ranch is located. “
When you mention Romney and Reagan together, remember that Romney was so anti-Reagan that he left the Republican party because Reagan became President. Romney became a Democrat supporter, fund raiser, and was fighting the conservative movement of Reagan and the Gingrich Congress.
You can't just say anything you want. You have to provide evidence.
Where's the evidence that Romney "left the Republican Party because Reagan became President"? Or that he was a fundraiser for the Democrats?
Romney was an independent in the 1980s. A lot of young people in Massachusetts are, and so are a lot of conservatives (so that they can vote in either primary), but Mitt Romney doesn't seem to have been that interested in politics in those days.
By 1994, Romney was a Republican running against Ted Kennedy for the Senate. 1994, as you may remember was when the Republicans won Congress back and made Gingrich speaker, so it's pretty obvious that he wasn't fighting against the "Gingrich Congress."
Romney did say in the 1994 campaign against Kennedy I was an independent during that time of Reagan-Bush. Im not trying to return to Reagan-Bush. Notice that he didn't say he voted against Reagan and Bush, just that he hadn't been a registered Republican. He didn't say he left the Republicans because of Reagan or that he was fighting against "the conservative movement of Reagan." He was too busy making money to bother with politics much.
Im still not convinced that hatred for Reagan drove Romney from the Republican Party, though. He was just more interested in making money in the 1980s.
