Thanks for the information. One of those contributions was to a personal friend, but the others may give Romney a little trouble, as the Planned Parenthood fundraiser also might.

I’m still not convinced that hatred for Reagan drove Romney from the Republican Party, though. He was just more interested in making money in the 1980s.

Romney is a life long liberal, it is his natural state, and it was what he was acting on in the 1980s.

Romney chose to drop his Republican party registration during Reagan’s presidency, it seems that he could do politics and keep a job at the same time.

Romney voted for Paul Tsongas in the 1992 primary, he re-registered Republican in December, 1993 to run for office, and in 1994 said this about his politics.

“I’m not a partisan politician,” he said in an interview with The Post that fall. “My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.”
