A former congressional aide to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) has written a piece slamming the presidential hopeful's foreign-policy views, calling them "pure lunacy" in an online post on the conservative website Rightwingnews.com.
The long piece by former aide Eric Dondero alleges awkward treatment by Paul of gays and Jews, but saves its strongest criticisms for his policy positions.
"Its his foreign policy thats the problem; not so much some stupid and whacky things on race and gays he may have said or written in the past," he writes.
Dondero writes that Paul does not believe Israel should exist, that the United States should not have gotten involved in World War II, that the government might have known beforehand about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and that he planned to vote against the war in Afghanistan before changing his mind for political reasons.

Seriously. I want a president who knows history, who loves our constitution, loves freedom and respects our awesome troops (shock & awe rather than nation-building & crazy ROE and Miranda rights for enemy combatants). For all the ka-razy, at least RP loves this country & knows our constitution.
The thing that kills me about Ron Paul is not that he is really a libertarian rather than a Republican, nor that he is a loon. (Loon is rather a kind term for him, actually, but we’ll leave it at that.) The thing that KILLS me about RP is that so many non-Republicans think he actually represents mainstream Republican thought. He is a loon and they think we all march in lockstep with him! Aargh!
In 1988 Ron Paul called Reagan a “Failure”...
I am largely in agreement with you, however, once we had declared war on Japan, “Germany and the other members of the Tripartite Pact responded by declaring war on the United States.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WW_2#The_war_becomes_global
It would have been pretty hard to avoid war with Germany, at that point.
I’d also add that it was clear that Japan was building a new empire, and had we not responded to the invasion of the Philippines, we would have thrown good people and a worthy ally* away to, at the time, a vicious monster.
*It’s not widely known, but Filipino guerillas aided by a few U.S. officers and scant U.S. arms support, gave the Japanese fits in the Philippines, contesting the Japanese for control of large chunks of the country by the time McArthur returned... But now I’m O.T. :-)
“Time to run ADs on this loon...” Does AD mean “airworthiness directive?”
Rep. Paul in the international issues area is the mixed nuts can that needs to stay CLOSED.
I am not a Paul fan.
after 9/11 Paul showed his true colors. All we did to those poor middle eastern muslims is feed them trillions of oil dollars and they repaid us with 4 jumbo jets full of death....
Israel was another British empire crumbling failure...but it exists and it is our ally and a good ally that we must defend.
FDR just about begged the Japs to bomb us at Pearl Harbor and he got his wish....but that does not say that once they did, we should not have bombed them and their fascist allies back to the stone age...which we thankfully did...too bad we did not follow George Pattons wish to keep fighting till the Soviets were subdued, also.
First they have to get past the mental block of even getting such an idea broadly enough accepted to initiate such a massive invasion. Then, second, and non-trivially, contributing largely to the first, they have to get past geography, like 7,000 miles of pacific ocean. Of course they could bypass some of that and island hope a million man army through the Kuriles and Aleutians.
And then you have to do all of that while the Navy and Air Force are shooting at you. Oh, and there would be this little itty bitty problem that your capital city, ports and major bases would be smoking radioactive craters.
As much as Paul scares me, I believe that the worst thing that can come out of his candidacy is that Iowa’s caucuses will be seen as totally irrelevant and not representative of the country or even the state. That only happens if by some ridiculously small chance he wins. Ron Paul has absolutely no chance of winning a national election and the leftist media knows it. This is why you see them crapping their pants with excitement at the mere thought of being able to run against him.
If there was one other candidate in the running who was clearly in favor of fighting only when we go all out to kill the bad guys and their enablers, and clearly opposed to fighting decade long nation-building wars under the Care Bears Rules of Engagement, Ron Pauls support would be a lot less.
That's a feature, not a bug.
Let's have some important swing states, and states that aren't ethanol junkies, come first.
Yeah, he actually does. He's basically a naive peacenik. He believes if we are nice to everyone, no matter how awful they are, they will be nice to us back. There is no such thing as a moral foreign policy or standing up for what is right with folks like Paul. That is the foundation of isolationist foreign policy thinking.
that’s because RONULANS complain about liberties instead of complaining how people are doing more drugs
and to prove it, they honestly believe that people do drugs because they are illegal and that if we stop it, people will stop doing drugs because they are legal
We had 2 Million alcoholics before prohibition, now we have 20 million
yeah, makes sense to me
RONULANS!
“in the last 2008 he stood there and said we needed to get rid of the CIA, FBI.”
CIA based upon recent events in Afghanistan has been well infiltrated by our domestic and foreign enemies, and I’m thinking the FBI has been well compromised as well.
GWB made an egregious mistake not firing all the Clinton and Democrat appointees, costing a great number of American lives.
I’m not an RP supporter, but getting rid of the CIA and FBI would be a step in the right direction, but I don’t think anyone, even RP would have the balls to do it. A Democrat is always supported by Big Media, no matter what they do, but the leftist freaks already own the CIA and FBI.
Lemme tell ya, when you can fine, charge fees, seize assets etc, etc, well it's created big $$ for big gov and yeah, it's created a good living for tens of thousands in government.
As I said, go look at the courts. More cash registers than a super walmart. It's nothing but a sanctioned racket, run by the state, all while big gov collects hundreds of billions for drugs they approve of, like alcohol and big pharma drugs for example.
Check this, if ya go into a doctors office nowadays, they have closets and rooms full of free sample drugs, given to them by big pharma drug pushers that come by every other day, giving them *boxes* of free sample drugs. No joke...Trust me, this is real. And half these foreign doctors ya see? Corrupt to the bone. It's all about $$ with them.
Now ya see some of the free sample drugs are coming from Communist China. So many drugs are being pushed, the doctors staffs just grabs them and takes them home etc.
They've got half the population over 60 on pain medication drugs, and about 40 percent of everyone driving around you in traffic is taking some kind of powerful pharmaceutical intoxicants or "Pain medication".
I see nothing but well spoken mobsters in business suits, all getting their cuts.
But big trouble ahead for the legal drug pushers and the big pharma bosses. Ya see as the older insured population, who had great health insurance dies off, the younger generation will not be fully insured, if they have any insurance at all. Big pharma will eventually take big time nose dive, as the next generation will simply not be able to afford expensive drugs and medications. Bet the rent.
