The White House plans to ask Congress for an increase in the debt limit before the end of the week...

I'll predict Friday afternoon, December 30; the ultimate Friday afternoon news dump, leading into the holiday weekend, with all the Congresscritters home in their districts, and most of the TV talking heads in the Hamptons. The worse the news, the less attention the Administration wants paid to it.
