BREWSTER – The woman who allegedly mailed a hoax weapon of mass destruction package to State Senator Gregory Ball’s regional office last month has been shot and killed by police in Georgia, a spokeswoman for Ball’s office said Monday. He is the chairman of the state Senate’s Homeland Security Committee.

Ball spokeswoman Brittany Oat said Jameela Barnette was killed on Christmas day when a police officer for the Cobb county Police responded to the Bexley Apartments in Marietta and was assaulted by Barnette shortly after he opened the door.

Officer shot the woman, later identified as Barnette, who died at the scene, police said.

She was armed with a knife and gun, police said.

According to the FBI in Atlanta, Barnette was arrested and indicted on federal charges last month for her role in mailing the hoax weapons of mass destruction package to Ball’s office. The package wound up containing perfume.

Barnette allegedly sent a package with pig’s feet to Congressman Peter King’s Office. He is chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Unlike you and I, ‘professional’ journalists allegedly have the availability of editors and proofreaders to check their work before issuing it on a public basis. I am sure they have various spell-checking software available just as we do.

Yet... I have noticed more of an abundance of ambiguous writing , spelling errors, and factual absurdity in journalistic output than I used to back before the ‘internet’ became such a popular media for the ‘news’.

Is it because of the ‘expediency’ necessary to be ‘first’ in the news ? Or because of a general decline in the educational level in journalism (as well as many other areas)?

Or both?

I remember, as a young adult, repeatedly noticing the sign in a local flower shop down in the metropolitan area I used to work in which was displayed prominently in the window.

BOKAYS $3.00

I saw that as a sign of the decline. I believe it is still there, and has never changed.

A monkey is a representation of who the Jews are.’...Geeez. Who’d a thunk? Macacca, chimp and apes, water bufflers, etc.....

I heard a sermon one day, and it clarified this miscellaneous and erroneous branding up with a very simple concept.

WE ARE ALL DIRT. We come from the dirt, and we return to dirt.

Thank you for providing the original post again. I did, however, read it completely when I first opened the thread.

I took particular notice to the same items that you have placed in BOLD in the text.

My first thoughts were, This is one most confusing articles I have read (today), and it seems like it will take much more digging to find the real truth, as the author seems intent on just pushing emotional triggers and using certain KEYWORD statements in an attempt to sell more laundry detergent.

Agreed, I don't know the details of this incident, but I did recently stumble across a video of what happens when cops don't take somebody with a knife seriously. One of them paid for slow/no reaction with his life. Two more were seriously wounded before perp was shot down.

If by ‘original’, you mean the article this thread is based upon, you are correct. Seems there were many ‘details’ left out. Thank GOD and Jim Robinson there were Freepers here (with links/references to other ‘sources’) to help supply some of the details.

The pig references are because the Koran says that Jews are monkeys and swine. Hence the pig’s feet and stuffed monkey doll.

A panic alarm = exigent circumstances whereby it’s the DUTY of the police officer to enter the residence.

I maintain that you have never been there and done that. Until you’ve been attacked by an armed assailant, you’ll be allowed to remain blissful and ignorant as to what it’s like. I pray that you never find out.

The original post said “The cop opened the door” In my mind that is breaking and entering.

The article says there was a panic alarm for the apartment. If you called the police because an armed man was raping you, and they showed up at your door, would you be upset if they didn't enter because you wouldn't open the door for them?

Or would you expect that after identifying themselves, they would open the door to see if the panic alarm was valid, and someone was being attacked?

Your comments make it sound like the police just wandered into her apartment for no reason.

It’s pretty apparent that the gal was looney, but I question the cop as well.

So you are cut by a woman wielding a knife and holding a hand gun, and you calmly respond by talking her down,is that how you would handle it, if you were the cop? Or would you do what most people would do if someone cut them with a knife and the person being cut was armed, they would shoot to stop the attack.

I am not a cop lover, far from it, but this sounds like the cop was perfectly within his rights to shoot. Don't want to get shot, don't cut someone with a knife while holding a gun in your other hand.

Shows how nuts she was, a sane person would have fired the gun not used the knife. A really sane person would not have set off the alarm in the first place and would not have attacked the police.

Thank you, she passed away at home in peace after a long hospital stay. I never made it public at her passing on the main forum but the Texas board gave me great support through hard times.
