The latest Ron Paul revelation is that, apparently, he would not have sent American troops to Europe in World War II to stop the Holocaust. I mean, were getting to the point where this sort of thing isnt even surprising anymore. To me, the key passage in this particular story is this:
Paul then looked at me, and I politely thanked him for his time. He smiled at me again and nodded his head, and many of his young followers were also smiling, and nodding their heads in agreement. Clearly, I was the only one in the room who was disturbed by his response.
I think we are long past the point where supporting Paul has become a status symbol of sorts for his supporters. Supporting Paul doesnt say as much about Paul as it does about you and how hip you are. You are not Establishment, you reject conventional thought about how a Presidential candidate should look and act, you are blazing the path for future third way candidates. Consider this fawning and servile piece by Tim Carney in which we are informed that it is the GOP Establishment that has improperly drawn the bounds of permissible dissent at excluding racist cranks, 9/11 truthers, and propagandists for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Yes, Ron Paul is the Barack Obama of 2012, and Tim Carney is playing the part of Andrew Sullivan.

1. We did not send troops to Europe in WWII to stop the Holocaust. We sent them to stop Germany from controlling the entire European continent plus Great Britain. What is Paul’s position on that?
2. Does genocide by itself justify our use of force? If so, why weren’t we in Rwanda? Or Egypt today (the Copt Christians)?
On just this issue, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Paul’s reasoning. One wonders though if he is hiding behind clever language about the Holocaust to hide that he did not want to alter the Nazi status quo in Europe.
It is his statements about US defense cuts that would eliminate our ability to defend ourselves that trouble me so much. He’s FAR more radical than Kucinich, Obama, Kerry, Mondale and Dukakis in that regard.
I just wish he did not have his history of being opposed to defense of the US. I would have to look at him much more seriously as a candidate were he in favor of a robust defense capability.
Why would the Romulans vote for him?
Obama won primary on the anti-war issue and has failed to deliver.
Tell them Ron Paul likes Jews or Israel. They’ll foam at the mouth and turn on him.
,,, and most especially his Jewish supporters.
My vote anxiously awaits here in Newport Beach for Newt when California's primary finally rolls around in the summer.. Newt/Marco 2012 & 2016..that's the ticket, imho!

HIm? Was this to me, or meant for someone else? I don’t follow the question, but it could be that I’m doing about four other things....
Well, since US troops were NOT ever sent to Europe to "stop the holocaust", he's in pretty good company.
US policy from 1935-1945 NEVER had ANYTHING to do with the holocaust (except that the invasion of Germany had the salutary side-effect of liberating concentration camps).
Not only did the US specifically NOT aim at stopping the holocaust, we also turned away Jewish refugees, suppressed information about their extermination, and even discouraged Jewish organizations from propagandizing about it.
Just a random question hehe.
A full frontal lobotomy? Electric shock? Increasing their meds? A visit to Israel?
Random is one word for it.
You are right but not with paul, I will write myself in first
An invasion? Hell, that barely worked with most of the German army spread out across Eastern Europe. The Russians lost 10 million people fighting the Nazis. Would anyone here sacrifice 10 million Americans to save 6 million Jews?
Nuclear warfare? So now we kill millions of civilians in order to save millions? Kill 'em to save 'em. That sounds familiar.
It's not the cut and dry answer that Paul bashers would have you believe, typing from the safety of their keyboards. I wish Paul had declined to answer a stupid hypothetical designed to make him look heartless, but he's a stubborn old man for sure.
Do Vulcan mind melds work on Ronulans? Their neural circuits are similar to 0-bots.
We will probably end up holding our noses and vote for Mittens like we held our nose and voted for McLame, W, Bob Dole! and G.H.W(NWO)Bush. At least, nobody held their noses to vote for RR. I didn’t...
A full frontal lobotomy.... but it’s still a gamble. LOL
LOL... See post 36. We are on the same track, but you did much better. LMAO
Full disclosure, I’ve currently got Gingrich as my most likely to vote for.
I do however, deeply admire someone who takes a stand they believe in.
Paul may be a bit out there on a lot of things. Well ok he IS a bit out there on a lot of things.
Thing is, he believes in the US Constitution like nobody else out there. That’s not fluff. That’s as important as things get.
A Constitutionalist. How many times have I seen posters right here yearning for one. Now there’s one right in front of us, and he’s being slimed like nothing I’ve seen since Palin.
Really, what is it this year?
Or did I just start noticing it?
It’s like we’re in the twilight zone. And it’s just as much our side, being that way.
Really odd election year we’re heading for.
You keep proving your point all the way to perdition. You can blame me all you want regardless of the outcome. It won’t change the fact that we will suffer the well earned wrath of God that will make all of our wars put together look like a picnic. I don’t think voting for Paul will save us but at least he does not seem like an unmitigated liar. He says too many things that are outrageously unpopular.
We did not send troops to save the Jews.
The story is based on a false premise.
Roosevelt, the Pope and many many others knew fully well that the Jews were being rounded up and executed and they did nothing about it.
Yes, some of them were saved, but they were saved as a result of the war. not as the cause of the war/
