Iran is ready to expand its military and security ties with Iraq, its armed forces chief of staff has said, a week after the exit of US forces from their neighbour.
General Hassan Firouzabadi hailed the "forced departure" of the US and allied forces that he said "was due to the resistance and determination of the Iraqi people and government," the state Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
The statements were made in messages Gen Firouzabadi sent to his Iraqi counterpart, Lieutenant General Babaker Zebari, and to Iraq's acting defence minister, Saadun al-Dulaimi, IRNA said.
The departure of the US troops "was due to the resistance and determination of the Iraqi people and government," he said.
"I hope the humiliating failure of the United States after nine years of occupying Iraq will serve as a lesson for them to never think of attacking another country," he said.
Lt Gen Firouzabadi added that Iran was now "ready to expand its military and security ties with Iraq."

The thing is, 0 and his bumbling cronies didn’t see that coming. They never do it really is amazing.
Mark my words: the day will come when we refer to the Saddam era as the “good old days.” Thanks W; 4,500 brave men and women gave their lives for nothing.
“Guess we should get ready for the Iraqi Kurdish and Sunni refugees too.”
Yeah, we can add them to the list that includes the Cubans and the Vietnamese and Hmong and the other people we have sold out in the past 50 years or so.
Two trillion dollars later, here we are.
That is a blatant lie. Why do you insist on posting blatant lies?

What Gomer Pyle said!!!
Your correction to the original statement is accurate.
I think 0 not only saw it coming, but he welcomes it.
The Sunni-Shia civil war was merely postponed by US intervention. There is a long overdue bloodletting about to occur in Iraq and the only questions are: (1) whether Iran is going to directly participate in support of their Shia brethren or merely provide arms, and (2) whether any Sunni majority country will come to the aid of Iraq’s Sunni minority. Time to buy oil stocks. When the Iraqi yahoos torch their own oil fields, prices will once again skyrocket.
Sure, let’s have Europe be “world police” instead, after the “principles” of the UN that they love to expound. Everyone will be begging to have the USA take the job back.
Scenario 1 is most likely. And no, they won’t torch their own oilfields any more than Iran ever torched their own.
“You don’t think O’Bastard and his handlers didn’t see that coming?”

Actually I DO think they DID see that coming. Yeah, Obama is pushing as hard as he can for the caliphate.
