UN tribute to Kim leads to walkout of diplomats
Dec 24,2011
The UN General Assembly yesterday paid a silent tribute to the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, sparking a walkout of ambassadors of Korea and other countries.
At the start of the assembly Thursday, its president, Qatars Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, told the diplomats, It is my sad duty to pay tribute to the memory of the late Kim Jong-il.
The president asked North Korean Ambassador Sin Son-ho to convey condolences and called on all envoys to stand and observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the late leader.
A walkout ensued by ambassadors from South Korea, the United States, Japan, Britain, France, Germany and other countries. After the walkout, only a third of the seats were still occupied.
Al-Nasser read out all the official posts held by the North Korean leader and the remaining diplomats stood and bowed their heads for a minute.

P!
The UN is disgusting.
If terrorists ever manage to sneak a nuke into New York City and detonate it, of course it WOULD be a tragedy of epic proportions beyond anything imaginable, however if such a dark day ever dawns, I will personally take solace in the knowledge that the U.N. was wiped out (along with the New York Times).
I would have stayed and farted loudly......
USA walked? There will be Hell to be paid back in DC.
Merry Christmas, brother.
when they walked out, they should’ve locked the doors and set fire to the place.
I would have wretched. Chunks of it. All over my delegation table and microphone and fellow delegates. Waves and waves of unending puke. Heck, farts.
Amen to that AiT!
Merry Christmas to the two finest FReepers in the Far East!
That would have certainly taken the remaining lickspittles’ minds off their extreme sense of RONERINESS.
Don't forget to stand on your desk turn your back and "moon" him while you're at it!
>> USA walked? There will be Hell to be paid back in DC.
Why? Was he a Muslim?
Amen, fellow Tokyo-ites. Great response!
And probably, TLR and I would both say, there is nothing particuarly "far" about the "Far East" at all, at least certainly from where we sit. Take care. Fasten seatbelts for 2012.
God Bless Us All, eh? What a year.
Nahh, use an air horn and party poppers, then shout out, “Woo Hoo! The b@st@rds dead! He ain’t gunna be so *ronery* anymore... in HELL!”
Then drop your pants and moon the one’s paying respect.
