I can understand Mexico’s allure pre-cartels. But now? Why take the risk? Is any area really safe in that forsaken country?
If it is the story I'm thinking of (and not another killing by the Mexican bandits) they were legals going back home to visit family for the holidays.
Due to corruption and violence at the border, many Legals are taking the bus these days rather than trying to drive. The days of going home with just a $50 bribe to the border guards is apparently over.
“But now? Why take the risk?”
Many illegals holding false citizanship return home during the Holidays to aquire new identies so as to avoid income and fica taxes. They file exempt and when the feds come looking for them that one can’t be found.
My brother-in-law is from Honduras and used to vacation there with my sister and their kids. I've gone with them a few times but they now refuse to go back there again because it's become so dangerous.
While drugs are on the rise there, kidnappings and protection rackets are rampant.......
I grew up in Southern California. Mexico never held any allure for me, but I do know that lots of folks used to like to shop and play there.
Even as a kid, though, we understood that Mexico wasn't the safest of places. But in today's world, you have to wonder what sort of fool would risk their life for anything across that border.
Once there was an America that would have sent troop sout of the border over this sort of thing. A real TR might have done so—and not the limp -wristed Metro-sexual we have as president now. Mexico is alot closer and more of a danger to us than Iran or Iraq.
