From The Ron Paul Political Report, October 15 1991
American Values?
During the Iraq war, American troops were instructed to use specially equipped tanks to bulldoze the trenches that held Iraqi soldiers- Not a single American was hurt, so meager was the resistance. Thousands of Iraqis, teenagers coerced into the army by the dictator Hussein, were buried alive, while the unprecedented military tactic was hidden from the public through media censorship. Captain Benny Williams, who Led the charge was awarded the Silver Star for his role. Also hidden: the apparent fact that many of the rag-tag teenage soldiers were trying to surrender as they were entombed.

In Bush, the elder’s defense, CNN was showing the ‘corridor of death’ about every seven minutes, and were complaining about how awful we were for killing the Iraqis.
So he stopped the war, and limited action to removing Iraq from Kuwait. Overthrowing S.H. al Tikrit was not what the Saudis and Syrians had signed up to do.

Signing up to drive a engineer vehicle in a combat zone that may be mined, in the line of fire, in the most predictable way for a few hours: I think a SS is pretty appropriate.
Audie was a special guy, and suffered from nightmares the rest of his life.
After the war Audie was in a bar (drinking coca-cola) and a motorcycle gang came in, and told him to clear out. He got up, pinned the biggest guy in the gang on his chin, knocking him out. He turned his back and went back to the bar to finish his drink.
Of course in “The Red Badge of Courage” Hollywood cast him as the young man who ran away.

I submit that the war isn’t costing that 4 trillion, it is the policy to borrow money-
Of course you have to ask what would have happened if Saddam Hussein al-Tikriti had been able to reconstitute his WMD programs. The UN sanctions had broken down. He was not following the armistice. He was more than willing to use WMD on his own people, and probably would have been willing to use them on us.

Translation = Poppy Bush surrendered to CNN, proving that he had evolved from brave WWII aviator, to latter day p*ssy.
Thanks Don, for enlightening us all about that.

Sorry, you spoke like a girl mad at her boyfriend.
If you are so interested, I used to go by Freeper name razzle.
I don't see how GWB failed to complete the mission, most of the code pink types and the ron paul types think he went TOO far.
I also think we learned a lot more about the ability to democratize the muslims, and even President Romney would not fall for that again.
(I still have not heard who is the best and most viable conservative candidate from all the Romney haters - because I'd join them)

Bullshit Roy, only in your confused mind, it sounds more like you were subconsciously projecting your own latent femininity. (you see, two can play that game Roy, so you can decide how you want to 'play', because I give as good as I get)

I could care less about you were, are, or claim to be. I post with my real name, 'mkjessup', aka 'Mark Jessup', I have no need to hide from anybody whatsoever.

You are clearly suffering from tunnel vision. We're not talking about just Operation Iraqi Freedom, we're talking about the entire War on Terror, the entire 'Axis of Evil', you DO remember that don't you? Iraq, IRAN, NORTH KOREA, you know, those guys?
After GWB got rid of Saddam, he seemed to lose his appetite for any further engagement with the rest of that infamous 'Axis', if GWB had been FDR, it would have been like knocking off Mussolini and then backing off while Hitler and Tojo had their way, get the picture here?
Now Junior George certainly talked the talk, about "not permitting Iran to obtain a nuclear weapons capability" but when he had the opportunity to take the advice of no less than Dick Cheney AND John Bolton, he wimped out and let Condi Rice take him on down the State Department's Garden Path, and did NOTHING, which led to the current situation with 0bama-lama-ding-dong likewise doing little to nothing about the threat posed by a soon-nuclear Iran.
But what ho?!? Listen up pal, the lesson isn't over yet.
Moving on to the Far East, where Kim Jong Il was providing aid and support to terrorists all over the globe, GWB decided it was more important to 'engage' lil Kim at the conference table of those useless 'Six Party Talks', instead of dealing with KJL the way he dealt with Saddam?
(and I'm not the first FReeper to wonder if GWB's angst about taking out Saddam was not based in no small part upon the fact that Saddam had been working on a plot to assassinate Poppy Bush on a visit to Kuwait, which in GWB's eyes "made it personal")
But again, Junior George talked a real good talk and put on the face of sincere care and (dare we say it?) "compassion" when it came to the North Korean people, in 2005 he met with Kang Chol Hwan, author of "The Aquariums of Pyongyang", which chronicled life inside of the North Korean prison/torture camp system, from which Kang escaped, GWB even MET with the guy, and spent over a half an hour discussing ways to 'help' the North Korean people. (and when you're the President of the United States, a half hour of time is one big chunk o' time to spend with a guest)
So after that hyped up meeting with a truly heroic defector from North Korea, what did GWB do?
Not only did he continue with the unproductive and useless Six Party Talks (which makes sense, because GWB excels at TALK), in October 2008 he took North Korea OFF the list of terrorist supporting nations, some 'Axis' eh? Some 'Evil'. Kim Jong Il was no doubt pleased as punch. (and once more, GWB failed to heed the advice of both Cheney and Bolton, who certainly are better educated and informed so far as conducting foreign policy than GWB, who in retrospect was the wrong guy at the top of the ticket in 2000/2004).
So there is your education in summarized form regarding the fallen idol George Walker Bush, who was NO conservative, was a RINO from the beginning, a failure and a limp dick in foreign policy, and helped to spend us into bankruptcy, because he never even found his damn veto pen until 2006, this is how "spending like a drunken sailor" is defined.
I also think we learned a lot more about the ability to democratize the muslims, and even President Romney would not fall for that again.
BITE YOUR EFFIN TONGUE. "President Romney"?!!? You trying to make everyone puke the day after Christmas?
(I still have not heard who is the best and most viable conservative candidate from all the Romney haters - because I'd join them)
Right now, you have a choice of Newt, Michele, and the two Ricks (Perry and Santorum). Barring a brokered convention or some sort of last minute surprise, the choice will be between Mitt-Witt and one of those four competitors.
As for Romney? NO way, NO how, NEVER.

I'm not a Romney supporter! I'd be happy with Santorium or Perry (even with his calling us all heartless for not giving illegal mexicans free tuition). Newt is a sleazeball and as much as I like Michelle B, she seems confused and defensive and not presidential.
Romney was the most conservative candidate last time around when the maverick got the nomination (even Rush admits this), so I am hoping that Ann Coulter and others are correct and he will give a good showing as president. He certainly has the most money to take on the Obama (and perhaps Clinton) machine.
To: Roy Baty
I am pleased to see that we are in agreement about Mitt-Witt, and while I have my reservations about Newt, it may end up being as Donald Rumsfeld wisely observed, which is that often we end up having to go to war with the army (or in this case the candidate) we have, not the army or candidate we would prefer, and we just have to make the best of a bad situation.
I have grave reservations about Romney as the nominee, his recent quasi-defense of 0bama as “not being a socialist” smacks of McStain’s comments about “America has nothing to fear from an 0bama Administration”, that was just about the time he threw the election to the ‘Rats, as I see it.
Merry Belated Christmas, and a Happy 2012 to you and yours.

Merry Christmas to you also!
I apologize for being rude, I work with several Ron Paul supporters and am getting tired of Bush bashing I suppose.
Whatever happens, we the people will have to take matters into our own hands from these politicians at some point anyway, I’m afraid. We’re on the same side.

Ditto, mutual and likewise.

I will be the first to give GWB credit for restoring a sense of dignity and morality to the White House after the Clinton-Ghoul-Reno years, which were nothing but years of corruption and outright treason. Unfortunately George W. Bush demonstrated by the end of his two terms, that he was NO conservative, except on certain social issues. There was little to no fiscal restraint, the expansion of federal power and influence into every corner of our lives exceeded anything in history, the foundations for the emerging police state we see were laid with the creation of the 'Department of Homeland Security' headed up by "Pennsylvania's Tom Ridge" (as GWB pumped up the hoo-hah back in 2001/2002). And we have all witnessed the fascist extremes of the 'TSA' (The Sanduskying of America). NO truly conservative President would ever have permitted our civil liberties and freedoms to be undermined in such ways, and our terrorist enemies must be laughing their asses off when they view how the American people are now virtually prisoners in their own Nation, subject to surveillance, detention, arrest at any time, being held for ANY reason if the Feds decree, we're not headed for dark times, we're already IN 'dark times' and it's going to get darker.
Whatever happens, we the people will have to take matters into our own hands from these politicians at some point anyway, Im afraid. Were on the same side.
That is what our ancestors did against our previous occupiers, aka King George and his crew. I believe we will see history repeating itself, hopefully with the same results.

I truly believe if we would of went the distance in GWI Iraq would be a stabilized country now.
Hell, just look at the coalition that was put together.
It could of pulled Al-Qaeda into the forefront and deemed a serious threat back then as well.
Too many what ifs, I know.

Well the situation was not as dire until recently and GWB did not want to fight the dems on the fiscal stuff, he was more of a terror fighter, I think he had to give some to get what he wanted. In that respect GWB was somewhat weak. But with the bashing he took from the Left, I will never throw the guy under the bus - period.
And yes we will have to fight sooner or later, I'd prefer sooner.
