F ootwear brought frenzy to malls in Palm Beach County and across the nation today as police quelled scuffles, unrest and even near-riots among shoppers out to buy the crown jewel of sneakers: the Nike Air Jordan Retro XI.
Officers used pepper spray at the Finish Line store at the Boynton Beach Mall, where some shoppers had tired of waiting in line and began pushing their way into the store. Two people were arrested and a police sergeant taken to Bethesda Memorial Hospital after sustaining injuries to his head and elbows.

What a bunch of STUPID PEOPLE! I wonder what percent of these idiots are on welfare?
I wonder what percent of these idiots are whi-—woops, guess I souldn’t ask that.
See post 41. They look like spats!
They are Air Jordans 11.0. Thank you, I’ll wait for 11.1 when all the bugs are fixed.
Dem some fugly shoes, fo’ shizzle!
Spats, right? They are hideous.
Yes, but if you’re planning on being a criminal, they can make it so much more comfortable when you’re running from the cops.
... not to mention the height of fashion.
If anyone remembers Michael Jordan 100 years from now, it’ll probably be for the Air Jordans through the decades and the controversies around them instead of the 6 NBA championships and legendary career.
Leroy & Tyrone, just got to hab dem shoes.
Outrun a pistol slug going 1,000+ feet per second or a assault rifle round going 2,300 to 3,300 feet per second? Not on your best day and fanciest Air Jordan sneakers. However, you will have the nicest sneakers in the morgue for awhile.
Depraved souls?
“Soleless” thugs (and everything that’s wrong with America).
I don’t know how much they cost..All I know is it is to much an the shoes are not worth someone getting beat up or killed over..But then again some races will kill you over a dime if you are white..
I remember when I lived in Korea I bought Nike brand shoes and payed a whole five dollars for them ..And they were not the knock offs either just had a little flaw that you could not see..I kept my kids in the top line of everything while living there..So you see how the mark up price is when the consumer in the states get them.. Some people are ignorant when it comes to brand name, just pay for the name not how good they are..
