The War On Christmas Is Real, And The Atheist Barbarians Are Winning It

The War On Christmas Is Real, And The Atheist Barbarians Are Winning It By Tim Stanley December 23rd, 2011

Militant atheists, like Richard Dawkins, celebrate the spiritual decline of Christmas. There are two wars on Christmas: one public and baloney, one conceptual and terrifying. The first usually involves a group of “Bah! Humbug!” atheists trying to ruin everybody’s fun.

Take this story from Santa Monica, California. For decades Palisades Park has displayed traditional religious tableaux at Christmas – the Virgin and Child, the three wise men, shepherds etc.

But this year a lottery system was introduced to allow other religious groups to compete for spaces. Incredibly, a bunch of atheists won and were permitted to put up images of Satan, Jesus and Father Christmas, with the tagline: “37 million Americans know a myth when they see one… What myths do you see?” All good family fun.

Anti-social displays of bad taste are becoming common in the United States of America. The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue reports the following outrages: “In a South Carolina cancer center, a 67-year-old volunteer Santa was evicted because of the “different cultures and beliefs of the patients we care for” … In an elementary school in Stockton, California, poinsettias were banned but somehow snowmen were permitted; they justified their censorship by saying there was a Sikh temple in the city … A skeleton St. Nick was found hanging from a cross on the grounds of the Loudoun County Courthouse in Leesburg, Virginia.”

Why aren't Catholics and Christians fighting back? It all started with something as simple as "Happy Holidays" and we rolled over and played dead calling it innocuous. What a mistake!

What mechanism do you suggest is used to stop Americans treating Christmas as they see fit?

Catholics and Christians

I'll let someone else take that one, you aren't stepping on my toes, I'm not Catholic.

I haven’t heard Happy Holidays from anyone in my travels this week. Clerks and cashiers and other employees from the convenience store, to the department stores, the supermarket, the state owned and operated liquor store and even the US Post Office, without exception wished me and others a Merry Christmas.

I’ve heard it from a grocery store manager and shot back with “Merry Christmas” and some radio program announcers.

No offense met. Made the differentiation only because of the unique distinction between Catholics and Christians. Yes, we are all Christians.

Catholics and Christians

First, Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholic.

Second, just as the vileness of liberalism is coming into full view and those that have been asleep at the wheel are now waking up, those that want to trash Christmas with their vileness will only serve to wake people up and show the truth of who these people are.

Everything happens for a reason. We got Obama because they fell asleep, now they are awaking. The same thing will happen with this in the long run. It is up to us Christians to love those who hate us and through our love God will reveal the truth.

“Turn the other cheek” is always trumped by “In your face!”

Christians of any stripe will never push back, and The Left knows it.

I was happy to see the the large number of folks in Texas show up last weekend to support the Nativity Scene in a small town. Their clear message was “Don’t mess with Texas”.

Also, there is the USPS delivery guy that, despite being told to stop, continues to deliver the mail dressed as Santa.

Some are standing up and fighting for their faith and it is working. Often times, the cowardly aethiests and ACLU will back down when confronted.

This week I walked into a local Wells Fargo (recently converted from Wachovia) branch and upon completing my transaction I said, “Merry Christmas”. I then winked at the teller and said, “Oh, I am allowed to say Merry Christmas aren’t I?” The teller responded, “Yes you are and I say it anyway no matter what they tell me.” I replied, “I guess your new management is from San Francisco.” She smiled.

Any Christian that defends their faith is falsely smeared as a “Nazi”, often by atheists.
