Thanks for the info. Merry Christmas too!
Good stuff!!
Merry Christmas Dita (((((Hugs))))
I would have liked to have seen a Merry Christmas banner on the wall in the dining hall instead of a Happy Holidays banner... though I am not surprised the least by the secular PC slogan.
Citizenship was the prized reward (performance bonus) offered to artisans and craftsmen that built the cathedral (circa 1909) in 14 months, although they had up to 5 years to construct the structure and still qualify for the unique and coveted offer.
ooh! lucky you! i watched tonight and LOVED the hellcats.
it was awesome.
i even tried to find a email addy for Jon Scott to tell him “well done” via the fox news website, but dead-ended.
also loved Hannity’s troop special tonight. Oliver North’s story on Washington 235 years ago on Christmas eve was so good.
Thank you for posting this - the wife & I enjoyed it.
Welcome. It was nice.
Well, let me tell you, the funnest portion of the annual Christmas dinner is when we all sing the Twelve days of Christmas (and I doubt that has been eliminated).
All 4400 cadets are served dinner at the same time (family style). The dining hall is made of 6 massive halls (all connected) that radiate from a central tower (the poop deck). Each spoke seats about 700 cadets. Each spoke is divided in half, so there are 12 sections and each section of 350 sings one of the days of Christmas. Ambitious plebes stand on the table tops to sing.
It is great fun. Another semester down. Exams over. One of the few breaks in the grueling schedule of a cadet. Home to family and friends who appreciate the hard life cadets have chosen.
Thank you for the wonderful recollection of an event that only a tiny fraction of people will ever get to experience. A great big thank you for your service to our country.
The neighbor just stopped by. He asked me what I was doing. I said I was answering a former West Point cadet in a forum online. Seems that the neighbor took wedding pictures for a living at the WP chapel, and his ex wife’s uncle was the band director. Now that is one hell of a coincidence!
Merry Christmas soldier!!! ;o)
Lots of hard work - lots of good people - lots of good memories.
That is some coincidence.
God bless you as you bask in the radiance of the Savior’s grace!
The West Point Holiday Special will repeat today (Sunday) at 1pm Eastern, 10am Pacific on Fox News Channel
I watched last year, recorded it on my DVR and watched twice, once on Christmas Eve and again Christmas Day. It was wonderful. I was wondering IF Jon Scott’s son had yet graduated. Have my DVR set up to record tonight.
