LIVE THREAD: C-span 1: House meeting. Will anyone object to the two month extention and blow it up?
one man's opinion.... ^

Posted on 12/23/2011 7:13:37 AM PST by ken5050

Senate just passed the two month extention of the "tax cut" House about to meet...to pass it under a UC (unanimous consent) motion. If any ONE Republican shows up and objects..it can't pass.

Every Republican, and especially Boehner, should have made the point that the Democrats puny two-month plan cuts $160 for the taxpayer, while the GOP year-long plan saves the taxpayer $960. Nancy Pelosi was lying when she said the Democrats were saving taxpayers “a thousand dollars.”

Of course, these cuts are coming out of the Social Security revenues, thus hastening the day when it will go broke, and we don’t hear a peep out of AARP. Hypocrites.

Smart, let’s not fund Social Security.

[Republicans]: See, we’re like Democrats - we’ll give tax breaks to the poor ! And the Congress will borrow to make up the difference ! [crying baby sounds]...

Reid asking the house if they received the message.
He slam dunked their little revolt and he is gloating about it.

Bachmann is finished. She was running as the “principled conservative”, and she did such a great job, voting against the stimulus, voting against the debt ceiling increase.

She’s come out STRONGLY against this 2-month tax increase. And all she has to do is show up in DC and she can stop it.

But she won’t. Which means her opposition was just talk. Which is a shame, because the leadership is begging people to just not show up, so she’s doing what they want — but since her whole appeal is that she stands up for us no matter the cost, this is a failure.

Coming on the heals of not getting on the Virginia ballot, I think it’s clear Bachmann isn’t a serious candidate any more, and she’s just taking up space for a conservative that doesn’t say things to pander to the base and then not take trivial steps to act on those statements, and who actually is RUNNING for the office and getting on ballots.

It already is broke....it surpassed that earlier this year, IIRC...Outflows > inflows....it will soon come largely from general tax revenues.
