I bought a piece of tech from Best Buy a few months back. I talked to a sales person who was extraordinarily knowledgeable, very helpful. After a little more conversation, and since I'm a nosy Nelly, I found out that the gentleman to whom I was speaking was actually employed by the piece of tech’s manufacturer. He was there at Best Buy to sell his employer's product.

A lot of the big box stores are starting to do that. Send in a manufacture rep for sales or peak events/times.

I recently applied for one to the dog/cat food manufacturers. And you can find such positions through NARMS too.
The pay is better than regular retail too.
