Garbage-can dispute leads to shooting in Bayview (San Francisco)
San Francisco Examiner ^ | 12/21/11 9:47 AM | Mike Aldax

An armed man accused of kicking over garbage cans on a Bayview street was shot by a neighbor following a confrontation Tuesday night, police said.

Police responded to the shooting call in the 1100 block of Gilman Avenue around 8:40 p.m.

They found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, the injured man had been walking up the block “kicking over all of the garbage cans on the street.” One neighbor told him to stop it and go home. The man walked back to a house, returned a few minutes later and started “yelling, screaming and grabbing at his waistband” outside the neighbor’s home, police said.

At one point the neighbor’s father, a 62-year-old man, shot the 28-year-old man once in the chest. He then called police.

Police said they found a gun in the injured man’s waistband.

The 62-year-old neighbor was taken into custody. It wasn’t immediately known what charges he may face.

He shouldn’t be charged with anything he merely gave the trash can kicker what he was asking for.

The local Latino socialist DA (Gascon) will use every deceit and trick to destroy this man.

An earlier version in the EX had police trying to disconnect and disqualify the gun found on the 28 year old by alleging it was found on the ground near him.

This was the number one cause of gunfights in the Old West.

No, not just CA, but the bay area. In most parts of CA, particularly in the North eastern counties, the man would not have been arrested. It would have been justifiable. The perp(not victim)was armed, which makes it self defense. In fact, I would say this guy gets off any way even in SF.

Something's not right here.

In San Francisco, nobody gets upset about trash (or pee or even poop) in the streets (or sidewalks, stairwells, or elevators).

The place is one big potty.

It wouldn't have happened without the frustration of separating recycled garbage for the good of the planet and the promotion of fascist ideals via democrat dogma.

The shooter and the shootee were both armed.

The shootee was causing a ruckus.

The shooter ended the ruckus.

On the other hand, both of them live in San Francisco and deserved to be shot or incarcerated for no other reason than that.

I'm calling it a draw.

We used to go to the city a long time ago to visit the wonderful restaurants and bask in the historical atmosphere of the town...that, was then...this, is now...

They're in the Bayview District of SF, worst neighborhood of all. It's a good bet many citizens are armed there. A friend of mine who lives there, was slowing his truck as he approached an intersection. A black guy ran up to his door, pulled it open and threw my friend into the street and stole his truck. That's a neighborhood where you want to be armed.

Very true.

The people of Chicago and NYC don’t know how lucky they are. With their gun laws, this scenario could not have possibly happened. The guy kicking over the trash cans would have walked back and shot the unarmed citizen who complained about his actions. The shooter would have then run away and the cops would have arrived, analyzed the situation and increased the body count by one and then headed off for donuts.

That place had a rep going way back.

SF has some pretty spendy neighborhoods (Pacific Heights, Nob Hill) where such carryings-on would bring instant response from a black-and-white.

Hunters Points not so much.
