Mitt Romney said he will not release his tax returns if he wins the Republican nomination for president, a rare move for a candidate.
When asked if he would, Romney, in an unaired segment of an interview with MSNBCs Chuck Todd, said that he doesnt intend to release the returns.
I doubt it. I will provide all the financial info, which is an extraordinary pile of documents which show investments and so forth, he said, according to video provided by NBC.
When Todd pointed out that Romney had asked Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) to release his returns during their 1994 race, Romney reiterated his remarks.
Never say never but I dont intend to do so, he said.
President Obamas campaign blasted Romneys statement.
By declaring that, if nominated, he would not release his income tax returns, Mitt Romney is defying a practice to which every party nominee, Republican and Democrat, has adhered for decades, said Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt. Even his father, George Romney, disclosed his tax returns when he ran for president in 1968. Why does Gov. Romney feel like he can play by a different set of rules? What is it that he doesnt want the American people to

Obama slamming someone else for not releasing records? The hypocrisy is astounding.
However, the obvious inference is that he doesn’t want to reveal how rich he is. Not that he is in the same league as Ross Perot, but Ross had no trouble informing the public how much money he made, which was A LOT!
Bet on it. His “super-pacs” would be all over that with “What’s Newt got to hide?” “Why won’t Newt Gingrich release his tax returns?” The airwaves would be blanketed with it.
And all of Barry’s unreleased records?
I think whoever is elected as the Republican nominee for president should show up at every debate with the Food Stamp President with certified copies of his/her birth certificate, college transcripts and tax returns and explain the he/she has nothing to hide unlike some elected officials.
as for Romney...I'm sure he is hiding something they all do, who really gives a damn....
Predictabilly, Obama/Dems erupt, saying he should release the tax returns.
Bait taken.
Romney can then release his university transcripts, SAT's, LSAT's, and Harvard Law School class rank --everything that Obama must keep hidden.
Romney can say that he'll release his tax returns when Obama releases his academic records.
Obama campaign makes precipitous retreat, leaving Romney master of the campaign's transparency field.
Fear not they will get out, Obama will make sure of that!!!
Yeah, seems like a good plan.
Barry has set the tone and nothing needs to be released unless when used to attack.
Respectfully, I'm not certain that's the case. You do realize we're talking about Mitt Romney, don't you? Possibly the only man alive who believes he's more entitled to the Presidency than Barack Obama? Possibly the only man alive who is less sincere when he speaks than Barack Obama? Possibly the only man alive who believes that rules are only for other people than Barack Obama.
Yeah. That Mitt Romney.
Meanwhile, seven years after Barack Obama burst onto the national political scene, we still await the disclosure of his background records.

Romney would then reveal who his corporate crony, conflict of interest/lobby connections are. We just can’t have that!
Rom Baby is above all that. The “Double Standard” set of rules only apply to Willard and must not be even mentioned.
I don't know that we have the college, graduate, or professional school records for any Republican candidate.
If I were Mitt or Newt I'd say Ya, I'll release them when she unseals Hers...
