Did Gingrich bend campaign laws with his 'independent' committee?
Kansas City Red Star ^ | December 20th | Greg Gordon

Newt Gingrich helped bankroll his resurrection from a has-been to a Republican presidential front-runner by exploiting a gap in federal campaign finance laws to create a political money machine that raised $54 million over five years. The former House speaker appears to have made unprecedented use of a supposedly independent political committee that collected unlimited donations, financing a coast-to-coast shadow campaign that raised his profile and provided a launch pad for his presidential run. Gingrich's American Solutions for Winning the Future, which he shuttered in July, shelled out at least $8 million for the chartered jets in which he hop-scotched the nation for public appearances while weighing whether to enter the 2008 and 2012 presidential races.

My "the media is electioneering again" warning light is going off.

What are they up to now? What's this all about?

If it turns out that this is nothing more than an advertisement from the KC Star to the Obama campaign, how much is this advertisement worth?

There is no doubt about it - the Democrats are scared of this man.

... by exploiting a gap in federal campaign finance laws ...

i.e. a legal loophole. In other words, he figured out the legal boundaries of the playing field. The Dem have been playing outside the legal boundaries for multiple cycles with out-of-country donations, ballot stuffing, dead voting, bringing in the mentally impaired to vote, etc.

Newt is fighting people who get their rules out of the morgue and sewer. What exactly is a “campaign law” to the Socialist(D) party and their msm minion?

They make it up as they go and only one thing will stop them.

The libs on both sides of the aisle want Romney. It is very clear. Gingrich will skewer Obama in debate and make him look like the Marxist PUTZ that he is.

Like Rush Limbaugh says. The left will always show you who they are afraid of.

Did Ubama bend campaign finance laws when Soros funneled hundreds of millions of dollars through anonymous prepaid debit cards?

The real story here is that, regardless of the $54 million raised by American Solutions for Winning the Future, Gingrich not only spent it all, he is massively in debt and now caught flatfooted and unable to meet his challengers or exploit his openings.

Good grief, can anyone raise any sort of criticism against a candidate without being accused of being nothing more than skeered of him?

This is getting to sound like the homosexual lobby, which successfully used the term “homophobia” as a way to dismiss any and all criticism of homosexuality as people just being fearful of it.

“This is getting to sound like the homosexual lobby,..”

Bullshit.

I don’t give a damn who you crtitcize, but it better be accurate. BHO2 committed huge and extensive fraud during the 2008 election cycle. That has already been verified and people are being charged, some have even been sent to prison.

“Newt Gingrich helped bankroll his resurrection from a has-been to a Republican presidential front-runner by exploiting a gap in federal campaign finance laws to create a political money machine...”

Doesn’t sound like anything illegal to me.

Accusing someone of bending campaign laws without having a legal basis spelled out is called a smear. Take your own advice and chill.

Exactly. A “GAP” is a liberal term for “LEGAL”.

Did you even read my post or your own, the one to which I responded?

You said nothing of the sort that you’ve said here. You simply said this was evidence that the Dems are so skeered of Gingrich and I call Barbara Streisand on that.

But you didn’t address that point.

And it has nothing to do with whether the critcism is accurate or not. It’s just getting old to claim a candidate is so skeery every time someone disagrees with him, criticisms him or even trumps up accusations against him.

Maybe they just don’t like the guy and/or want to defeat him politically?

Do they have to be skeered of him to want to defeat him and do whatever it takes to do so?

Are you skeered of Obama? Is that the only reason you criticism him?

I’m simply saying it’s a big stretch, and, frankly, embarrassing to see “fear” behind every critical rock thrown in a campaign season.
