What? Good Grief..are you speaking of the FreeRip software? I’ve recommended this software to many people.. I’ve never seen anyone have these problems before..the FreeRip site is GOOD..it does not give viruses to anyone.
Unless.. you’ve accidentally come across one of these fake Anti Virus websites; that is actually a VIRUS itself, that demand payment to wipe the viruses; these pages simply seem to “pop up” out of the blue.;...I hate to say it, but the guys who created this software should be hung first, then shot..they cause so much grief to many unsuspecting people. (my Mother was one of ‘em.. she had no idea what to do - I had to fix it for her )..
The best thing to do is download ANTI MALWAREBYTES (a free software - http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free ) then run it in safe mode..it may take running the software 2 or 3 times to completely wipe this nasty stuff from your computer)
BUT ..if you’ve run into a page that just finds viruses on your computer.. you MAY be able to simply run your TASK MANAGER, then click “END TASK” to stop the page from running..BUT this has to be done IMMEDIATELY once you see this webpage come up (don’t click the “x” at the right hand top of the webpage; it won’t cause the page to go away) .. I HATE these scams.. they cause so much trouble.
But, the FreeRip page does NOT offer this type of software.. it simply offers a free version of their software, and a PRO version that is being sold there. BUT the webpage itself does not sell Anti Virus software..
These things happen to the best of us, even if you have good anti virus software installed.. and this stuff is VERY difficult to get rid of.. if you have any problems getting this nasty stuff off your computer.. please call someone you know who is more computer literate than you are..who will know the steps to take to rid your computer of this nasty stuff..
I’m very sorry that this has happened to your computer.. BUT the webpages that I’ve recommended do NOT contain trojans or viruses of any sort.
Sorry, didn’t mean to tick you off. I just relayed what happened when I tried to dl it.
NoGrayZone..
I just looked at the FreeRip webpage again.. there IS a link that says “RECOMMENDED..click here to fix PC system errors”.. I think you must have clicked this link.. PLEASE, do not click this link..since the FreeRip software is obviously ..FREE.. they need to do ADVERTISING to support the webpage. If you are put off of downloading the FreeRip software by this advertisment..please.. DISREGARD this link on the FreeRip page..I really think that if you clicked this link, it was the source of your problems, with the FreeRip webpage..
I should have done this to start with; I’m shareing this software with you via DROPBOX, so that you won’t have to go to any website to download them.. here is the FreeRip software..simply click the link to download it from my DROPBOX account.. = http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16063967/freeripmp3-setup.exe
Here is the latest WinRar software = http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16063967/WinRar-%20wrar401.exe
Now, regarding DROPBOX, here’s the DROPBOX software.. = http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16063967/Dropbox%200.7.110.exe
BUT you will still have to go to the DROPBOX webpage to REGISTER for a FREE account..this will enable you to have two GIGS of free space on their DROPBOX servers to use to share all kinds of files with your friends.. (https://www.dropbox.com/ )
Once you’ve downloaded the three softwares, then; if you wish.. I can lead you on a step by step tutorial on how to best USE the software..it’s always fun to learn new USEFUL things ! :>)
Okay, I’ve done it. Now how can I share my Christmas Chorale with others?
I’ll try you first, if you don’t mind =).
NoGrayZone,
I wasn’t “ticked off”.. but was rather dismayed by what happened. I wasn’t upset with you at all.. I was upset with these scams that appear out of no where, out of the blue..
I can also see why you may not wish to go through all of these steps to simply be able to share music with your friends..
Although.. one OTHER way to do so is by simply ripping the cd into Mp3 files.. then sending the individual mp3 files via e-mail to your friends (it can be done, if each mp3 file is not too large; say..no more than 5 megs each).. thereby eliminating the need to zip the album into one file.. or useing Dropbox.
I was simply shareing the method that I use to share music files with friends. If you think that learning to use this method may be too much for you.. that’s fine, I DO understand.. I think that simply sending each individual mp3 file via e-mail would work for you as an alternative method..(one mp3 file per e-mail message..)
Merry Christmas to you and to your family! :>)
Best: Silent Night
LOL!!
I was at the blood donor place when I opened that link. When I started giggling, I got some attention. It also started quite a conversation.
Oh no, now you’re sending me to email MP3?? Shoot me now. I think may have done what you have stated....will give it a try.
NoGrayZone,
Sure, you can send the Chorale to me. But first; have you Ripped the cd to Mp3 files yet ? Have you read the manual? I recommended this software to you, because it is the EASIEST ripping software to use..
First.. bring up the FreeRip software on your desktop..place the cd in the cd tray in your computer.. then wait a few seconds till FreeRip recognises it..you should see all of the tracks on your cd listed in the FreeRip window..
Then look at the FreeRip software closely.. do you see the FOLDER icon there?.. click this icon... it will enable you to SELECT the folder on your hard drive that you wish the Mp3 files to be outputted (placed) into.. REMEMBER the location of this folder; you’ll need to know where this folder is located when you use WinRar and DROPBOX..
Next.. do you see the WRENCH Icon that is located directly to the left of the FOLDER icon? Click this Icon - doing so will enable you to CONFIGURE the software to rip the cd into Mp3 files at 192 kbps.. although..192 kpbs SHOULD be the default for Mp3 files, it never hurts to check.. (click the ENCODE tab (located when you click the WRENCH Icon)..it will open to allow you to check the modifications.)
Ok.. all set ? Now, do you see the word RIP there? Click RIP, then Click “RIP SELECTED FILES TO MP3”.. Presto ! FreeRip will automatically rip the cd tracks into Mp3 files..
Once you’ve finished ripping your cd..let me know so that we can then look at WinRar.. :>)
Best traditional (1970s) Christmas Carol (we sing it every Christmas morning in my church):
“They Ain’t Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore” - Kinky Friedman
Weird Al - Christmas at Ground Zero

I hope you shared it with everyone there.
That’s not a song; it’s a weapon. :-)
Another vote for “Christmas Shoes” as the worst. The meaning of Christmas: Don’t be grumpy in line, or God will give a little kid’s mother cancer. Gak.
By contrast, I recently heard Judy Garland’s original recording of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Performed in 1944, it’s understandably a lot more melancholy than postwar renditions (e.g. Sinatra, Ella), but nonetheless it’s sublime.
Now I like the song better!
The best Christmas carols are traditional. Like Run Run Rudolph, from the 50s (Dwight Yoakam on Spotify.)
Karen Carpenter singing “Ava Maria” is especially beautiful.
My favorite Christmas album is the Three Suns Christmas
Least favorite is a toss-up between “Happy Christmas (War is over)” by Lenin & Yoyo Oh-no or the Grandma/ Reindeer song.
Every time I hear it I think of all the US service men at that time period serving all over the world. How much that song expressed what they must have been thinking. How many of them never did get to have Christmas at home again.
It still chokes me up a bit.
I enjoyed that tribute, Sparky, good one.
