So Ron Paul is picking up steam in Iowa. May even be a frontrunner.
And here he is (beginning at 4:06 in the video) saying of Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier who leaked thousands of pages of classified U.S. government documents to Wikileaks, that Manning is a "true patriot" and a "political hero."
I kid you not.

If Paul wins in Iowa, it will be a referendum on the lack of intelligent reasoning by the caucus voters there. Polls are one thing but voting for a looney like Paul is just plain dumb.
Whether you are against US foreign or military policy or not, leaking classified documents to a group like Wikileaks is treason.
There needs to be laws and standards or it is the law of the jungle. Saying Manning is a hero shows Paul supports anarchy over the rule of law more than anything.
It’s no different than some muslim serviceman giving classified documents to a hostile country. Or even someone giving documents to a friend like Britain or Canada! Treason is treason regardless of the intentions or will behind it.
Wikileaks is a shady, disgusting organization that for every bit of good they’ve done has done two times worse. I remember they’ve published the names of Iraqi Jews at some point and allowed them to be targetted by muslim fanatics. Manning should face the full extent of the law.
Is Paul going to stand up and declare people can pass classified information to foreign bodies simply because their conscience tells them to? Paul is a dangerous lunatic, and I think his cult followers know what he’s REALLY about.
It’s simple: Ron Paul is opposed to our long-held foreign interventionist policies. They are a waste of our blood and treasure. Further, he is opposed to the violation of our own laws in the prosecution of these interventions.
Like it or not (and clearly most here do not) Assange exposed a lot of our mis-deeds. While I’m no expert on the full content of what was exposed, what has been reported in the media has simply exposed the chicanery of our State Department and embarrassed them. Viewed in that light, his comments make perfect sense.
In particular, Paul’s allusion to al-Walaki is spot on. Al-Walaki was an American citizen and should have been accorded his rights. While we may all be happy that that traitor is no longer walking among the living, his was a political assassination of an American citizen for which there should be outrage. Which of us is next? It gets easier and easier to abuse our natural and Constitutional rights all the time.
And “loose lips sink ships”. Ron Paul would sink the entire US ship.
The sooner Paul implodes and Bachmann, Santorum, and Perry drop out, the sooner Gingrich can wrap this up and put Romney out to pasture.
