It could be that this is what Ahmadinijhad and the head ayatollah wants, i.e. instability, mass chaos, fighting, lawlessness, etc. They have said in the past that they think it's their duty to cause such turmoil to force their saviour-figure, the 12th imam, i.e. the al-Mahdi to return to unite and lead the muslim world to world domination. They have been actively preparing for just this event since Amadinijhad has been in office.
Probably not. Other than the already mentioned eschatological contexts of the return of the Mahdi, this is bad for Iran.
If Salafists take over Syria (or essentially anyone else), they’re not going to view the heretical Shiite Iranians as friends anymore.
Iran’s really failed to convince other Islamists that they should listen to them, after all they’re not ethnically Arab nor Sunni.
