It goes both ways. Psych studies have shown that wealthy people tend to be more calloused about social graces, due to the lesser need for them, because they are more self-sufficient used to being waited on and people being servile to them.

But people who see BMW or other expensive cars will tend to show the drivers of these cars less courtesy, in terms of other drivers letting them into their lane or slowing down so BMW drivers can turn onto the street from parking lots and such.

Another thing. I was taught that if you want to turn left at a green traffic light you are supposed to pull into the intersection a bit short of the center and wait for oncoming traffic to pass. Then you turn. This way, at least one or two cars can make the turn.

Even worse, when the light does turn green (a green arrow allowing the turners to go first), and you're in line for the left turn, seconds go by before the first one makes the turn, and then more seconds go by for the second one. The light is red again before you can even move the first time. Bah!

Not necessarily you but the hyper-legalistic, hyper-cautious (dweebs, new drivers, women) who use always use turn signals even when not necessary.... Yes I have seen the same zoned out characters not turning on headlights in the rain. Turning on your headlights in rain, drizzle, snow, fog is very important in my book. By now many/most automobiles have them turn on automatically as they sense less sunlight

use your horn wake them up....they get through that light OK but they screw you so you cannot

My mechanic owns a '59 fuelie Vette. Stunning car for boulevard cruising, but point to point over any country road my old Maxima (stock except for front tower brace and rear stabilizer bar) could stay within a couple of percentage points of his time, and sometimes beat him.

If you are in a lane where you can only turn right, using your turn signal is not needed. Turning left to go across on coming traffic....yes I use my turn signal as a courtesy to make my intentions clear to on-coming traffic. Just in case they are bit distracted

It's pretty zippy, even with the X drive. My brother is an F/A-18 driver. He tells me the 325 (or one of its variants) is the car of choice for most Navy jet jocks.

How about the idiots who use turn signals when there is no need for one.

In Wisconsin, you can be ticketed for NOT using your turn signal, even at an intersection where you must obviously turn.

I've never seen BMW drivers causing out of the ordinary problems.

What is funny though, is watching BMW's in snow storms. It's like a cat to water, they can't keep traction and spin out of control. I remember seeing about a half dozen on a drive a few years ago.

They don't move to the right because people are passing them over there, using no signal, and after tailgating. Passing on the right is one of the worst behaviors I see on the road, especially when there's a free lane on the left.

BMW drivers are indubitably world-class assholes! Last night I was behind one at the corner of 16th and P NW in Washington DC at a light. He had his left turn signal on but was far enough to the right that I could not get by to go through the light. As the light turned yellow, with his left turn signal still blinking, he suddenly made a right turn down 16th toward the White House and left me sitting at the red.

What I can’t figure is why people pry themselves in and out of such a small passenger cabin of the BMW

I drive a BMW and so do most of my friends ( weird, I know).

I do know for a fact that I am an overly courteous driver because I believe that if I allow someone to cut into my lane, or give an extra ‘thank you’ wave, that my small acts of random kindness will come back to me.

Also it might help the ignorant who believe that those who chose to drive a remarkable piece of engineering actually do it because it’s an amazing driving experience.
