Environmentalists filed notices Tuesday warning they would sue to force the owners of four existing and planned East Contra Costa power plants to protect rare plants and a butterfly and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In the endangered species notice, the environmental groups said emissions from four Antioch-area power plants -- two of which are not operational -- will increase nitrogen in the soil at Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge, a preserve near the waterfront industrial area. The increased nitrogen helps weeds that crowd out native plants, including a plant needed by the Lange's metalmark butterfly, of which about 35 survive, according to environmentalists.

What up with the electrical workers unions? They should be taking their Louisville Sluggers over to the environazi meetings and having a little “heart to heart” (Or bat to skull) meeting with them.
These people want nothing better for America then to put us all in tepees and living off the land.

Among other stupidities, these are natural gas plants with near-zero emissions, even CO2.
There is no inherent difference between a mosquito chewing on you and getting smashed, and a butterfly getting in the way of your power plant.
I wonder how many of these morons gently ask the fire ant mound to stop attacking their foot.

Next time would you please tell us where this is? “Bar Area” in an advertisement on the Contra Costa Times might be a clue to locality - California? - but lots of places mention bays in their local rags, like Florida.

Environmentalists are frauds. They will file suit against any kind of power plant, wind power included, solar power included. What have you got? They’ll fight it.
Its a scam. Its how the people at the top and center make their living.

I personally have given up on California. Let them run the state into the ground and let it be an example to the rest of the country.
Seriously, when some type of "rare" bird,bug, plant, etc. is found, WHO THE HELL TELLS?
Step on the damn thing, pull it up by the roots, and get on with the project.
