Terra Nova aired its season finale last night.
The question is whether the Steven Spielberg sci-fi/adventure series aired its series finale, as well. Last night's numbers were good and not-great. The good: 7.2 million viewers, per estimates. The not-great: a 2.2 rating among 18-49-year-olds.
Both performances were up from last week's, but, for the most part, weren't big enough to top CBS' comedy reruns. They were also the latest comedown from the series' September premiere (9.2 million viewers; 3.1 demo rating).
Still, Terra Nova is not exactly looking extinct.
In Nielsen's latest weekly rankings, it scored enough overall viewers to land in 30th place, right between Fox favorites Glee and New Girl. Its 18-49 showing, however, was weakit finished down there with a Family Guy repeat.
The series' strongest talking point may be that, while its numbers have fallen, they haven't fallen as much as that of another lavishly produced, much-hyped fall entry: Pan Am.

I’ve really enjoyed watching this. Really hope they bring it back next year. It was a great finale.
With a 4 million dollar per episode price tag, I doubt it.

FOX has cancelled many good shows with better ratings in the key demo. I don’t think this one is coming back.
Apparently it retained its audience pretty well. That is always a plus. If they can make new episodes on lower budgets (I hear it was kind of expensive) it might also get them a new season.
Far too expensive for that audience size, but if they can reduce the price enough without turning it into a sitcom it might be worth it.
Yeah, I can see how viewership dropped off last week; our local affiliate here in St. Louis decided to preempt Terra Nova and air Monday Night Football instead. Boy, was my wife and I more than a little bit upset about that! After all, we all knew the Rams were going to lose anyway! They didn’t have to preempt Terra Nova just to rub it in our faces!
But, be that as it may, that was the only episode of Terra Nova we missed, forcing us to go into the finale yesterday at a little bit of a disadvantage as to what had preceding the events.
Anyway, my wife and I really like Terra Nova and hope it doesn’t go the way of our other favorite broadcast SF show, “V.”
Cheers
I like the show....it grow on me over time.... Hope they keep it.... It was left with an interesting plot twist in the final show
I just hate the premise
Evil corporations ruined future earth and now want to strip mine terra nova
Can’t Hollywood be more creative than that?
Think of all the actually good sci fi they could have produced with that cash.
It’s sad.
Watched it once. Good grief, has Spielberg’s talent sunk to the level of his political IQ?
This stuff is right up there (or more properly, down there) with the level of our public school teaching.
Simply unbelievable (in every meaning of the word).
In the beginning, being outside the compound was almost certain death by dinosaur. Now, everybody wanders around, unarmed, all over the jungle unharmed. Which is it, dangerous or not?
I think it has improved and if it comes back next season, I'll give it a couple more episodes before I drop it from my auto-record list.
At one point I gave “Lost” ONE more episode to keep me interested. They did, the rest is history.
Putting it on against Monday Night Football was pretty stupid.
Haven’t seen the season finale (still on the DVR), but have been watching it right along. It’s been enjoyable, if not excellent.
I’d still rather watch Firefly II, but not much chance of that ever happening.
Sci Fi has always had writers who did nothing but great short stories. Nothing wrong with following that tradition on TV.
It’s believable ~ in the future everybody will have IKEA furniture.
They pulled a cheap stunt in having the POV character knocked out so that they didn't have to pay for an extended battle sequence and an extra half hour of footage for what had to be a losing battle for the colony.
But not bad.
Can't blame the network. After all, they have a budget.
Maybe by now the dinos have discovered that we don't taste all that good!
