The question for Gingrich will be whether he has enough time to rebound in the two weeks left to campaign in Iowa or if he has begun a political free-fall that will be hard to stop. The problem is simple: If not Newt, who? The bench is empty.

If not Newt, who? There are three types of people attacking Gingrich right now:
Liberals.
Romney Supporters.
People too stupid to understand that the only person they are helping is Romney.

If you check the RealClearPolitics average, it appears that Romney and Paul are getting the displaced Newt votes. That means the establishment was wise to attack Newt since they want Romney, but FReepers were stupid to attack Newt cause they are only helping Romney and Paul.

The problem is simple: If not Newt, who? Rick Santorum is more conservative and more electable.
He's the best choice of what we're stuck with. And he's rising in the polls while Newt is tanking.
