AF Base Under Fire for Crèche, Menorah Displays

Officials at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., are talking with lawyers in response to a watchdog group’s demand that the base relocate its Christian nativity and Hanukkah menorah displays from an open space to the base chapel.

“As of right now, we are reviewing the concerns of the [Military Religious Freedom Foundation] and consulting with our legal experts and our higher headquarters,” base spokesman Johnathan Monroe told Military.com.

It’s not only the MRFF that wants the religious displays moved. The California Council of Churches, which represents about 5,500 Protestant congregations with about 1.5 million members, has added its own voice to the foundation’s request.

I live in Fairfield, home of Travis. The California Council of Churches can go pound sand - this is a military installation and if they want to reenact the crucifixion or the 7 plagues of Egypt, they can.

My friend who runs housing for Travis tells me the base commander would not move it, but told the atheists they could put up a display if they want. Pretty much shut everybody up.

I was at Travis this morning. I did not know they were having this problem. Good for the Base Commander. I had surgery at David Grant by a Christian doctor 2 months ago. Regards.

I’m stationed at Travis and I don’t believe they will move the displays. Lots of us have discussed this and the vast majority i’ve spoken with do not want it moved.

Freedom From Religion organization needs to get bullied, harrassed, sued into oblivion and the members or officers or whatever they are need to be personally sued until they are stark naked living under a bridge. People need to go on the offensive. Why doe a small coven of disgusting hateful aggressive atheists have the power to hassle cities, towns, states, Air Force bases and what not all over the 50 states and prevent them from freedom of religion? People need to Fight Back!

They're a bunch of bullies when you come right down to it. I know what it is like to be bullied, being a typical geek. Mom told me when I was a kid, you got to stand up to them even if it mean you have to punch them back. In other words, they will keep on doing that until our side does something that raises the price they are not willing to pay.
