Budget documents from 20 Colorado school districts show taxpayers spent more than $5.8 million over the past five years for the activities of teachers unions
...
Some districts pay all or part of the salaries of full-time union leaders, salaries of teachers on leave to attend union-sponsored training and meetings and hiring substitutes for teachers who were attending union events. Critics of the practice say taxpayer money is being used to benefit unions, not children.

“..Critics of the practice say taxpayer money is being used to benefit unions, not children...”

How absurd. The unions are upstanding, honest and would never impose on anyone for MONEY to suit their extortionist agenda....as if they are not taking enough money from the taxpayers already. You know, I can only say the taxpayers ask for it, and they are getting it. They do not fight it and they do not demand the heads of their so-called state officials who pander to the thugs of the unions.
Nothing else need be said.
Should anyone be surprised. After the number of years the “Education Governor”, Roy Romer spent his time raiding the infrastructure to take care of his union pets. Hopefully, Colorado is finally getting a belly full of the arrogant Teachers Unions across the state.
I am, however, very surprised that this is actually being reported.
The fallacy the teachers union tell is that they are “for the students.” Never have been, never will be. They are for the union where union bosses make six-figure salaries. Gov. Scott Walker got the unions trimmed in Wisconsin, no student has suffered, and many districts have cut back tax levies while offering teachers bonuses for performance.
As a Coloradoan, I know that:
The public school system exists for the benefit of unions, teachers and administrators.
Children are the cattle and their parents are the suckers paying the bill.
