VENTURA, Calif. (AP) -- A Southern California teenager has been sentenced to 21 years in state prison for killing a gay student during a computer lab class three years ago.
Brandon McInerney didn't speak on Monday but his attorney said his client is deeply remorseful for the murder of 15-year-old Larry King. The victim's family said they couldn't forgive their son's killer.

The jury was pretty easy on the young gunman, they could not decide between first and second degree murder. The young gunman plead guilty to second degree murder, in order to avoid a retrial and risk spending the rest of his life in prison. Maybe he was partially to blame too.
Would the guys in your old high school have done anything to straighten out a kid who brings a gun to school one day and shoots a classmate twice in the back of the head? Or, is that type of aggressive behavior someone else’s concern?
“Or, is that type of aggressive behavior someone elses concern?”
gee... I don’t know. Hey... how about those Detroit Lions?
It would have been inconceivable for any kid to even bring a loaded pistol to class to begin with. Never heard of it happening my entire school life.
But I did carry some brass-knuckles to school with me for a few weeks. A couple of big bullies were bothering me, and I intended to be ready for them if they tried anything more.
We are up to two suicides in our school district in recent weeks. Children DO handle things with a gun, both of ours did. It happens. Our suicides were two boys 17 and 14. One was over the rejection from a young girl. Our area also had a 16 yo female student end her life, too.
I see this situation in the same light. Ending your own life through suicide or killing someone else is pretty darn close. If you can kill yourself, you can kill others. If you are gay, you do NOT have the right to make sexual advances in a school setting. The school had to have seen something to alarm them, they chose PC, then blamed another child for the ensuing results. He committed murder, yes, there is a price to pay. BUT not as an adult, as a child. I agree with the jurors. Had he been an adult, totally another story.
“If you are gay, you do NOT have the right to make sexual advances in a school setting.”
However, you believe that straight boys should have the right to make sexual advances on girls and straight girls should have the right to make sexual advances on boys in a school setting?
You really are a sick person. Seek help.
The school setting in not the place for students to be making sexual advances and it does not matter the gender or sexual orientation of either of the two.
And while hundreds of American high school students over our history have found more appropriate ways to deal with unwelcome sexual advances, Brandon elected to commit murder.
And Brandon got off quite easy and out walking to streets before he is 40.
Nope—not when you consider his age and the depravity of the harassment that he faced and the school did nothing to protect him from being exposed to such sick, vile ideas.
That bullying had obvious mitigating circumstances which when considering the age and immaturity of the boy being harassed, in crimes that involved straight people or gang members-have even had their records expunged at age 21 and been sentenced to no more than 7 years.
LOL good catch. NO ONE should be making sexual advances....especially at the age of 14.

This is what happens when the parents, schools and other institutions in our society expect teens and others to behave in a way that is against human nature. This is truly a tragedy.
EASY? You are nuts. That is too long to spend in jail for something he did as a boy. Try him as the child that he was when he committed the act.
I cannot fathom that you think that to get out at 40 is going easy.
Are you gay?
Wow, I am shocked. We constantly complain that perpetrators are portrayed as victims by leftists, but when it comes to our causes, we do the same? I don’t think so.
Murder is murder is murder is murder...
It is MUCH more of an INSULT to a normal male to be pursued by a deviant—who wants to use his body in such a vile, depraved way. It is a deep rejection of human dignity—of the design by God of man.
There is no way an interest in a woman should be anything of an insult because that is the nature of man and an understanding of God’s teleological design. Respect and dignity though is necessary in relationships. There is no dignity EVER in homosexual relationships. It is deviant and nihilism. The very look of a homosexual at a male in a sexual way is disturbing, disordered, and sick. They were probably sexually abused as children.
The very act of male on male harassment for sex would have got men killed prior to PC laws to protect deviant behavior. No one was put in jail for murdering men who tried to rape them and they were severely beat up-—which actually controlled the deviant behavior and put it in the closet where the degrading acts belong. Sodomy is extremely evil and deviant.
There is no dignity EVER in homosexual relationships. It is deviant and nihilism. The very look of a homosexual at a male in a sexual way is disturbing, disordered, and sick.

While school is an unacceptable place for sexual advances, there is a big difference between a 14 year old male receiving unwanted, aggressive, reoccurring sexual attention from a male homosexual and receiving the same attention from a heterosexual female.
No matter how long some in our society insist that each should be considered equal, they are not.
First off, I’m not in anyway condoning the shooting of the homosexual, but there is a very dark and dirty story that is not being told here. One that lets the school and its policies off the hook so to speak.
The boy was 14, was being sexually harassed by a homosexual classmate who had been given carte blanche to pursue and harass the perp. Had “cornered” the boy in a bathroom and caused him great distress.
I don’t know about you, but our teenage son has enough trouble dealing with much more mundane issues, let alone an aggressive homosexual who has the protection of school administrators and teachers who were actively engaged in endorsing his abherrent behavior. Not all teenage boys are equal in that regard.
The perp went to the school “authorities” who told him tough. He would have to “tolerate” the unwanted homosexual advances of the victim.
How many 14 year old boys are capable of dealing with; a. the rejection of support from those placed in a position of “authority” over the enforcement of the rules, b. the public humiliation of being the object of “affection” of the victim?
I’m not condoning his acts, but in this case, this boy was also victimized, but by a culture of political correctness at all costs. The school was essentially forcing this boy to accept his “fate”. To be the object of “affection” and unwanted sexual advances without any support from an institution that is supposed to ensure a harassment free learning environment.
The love that shall not speak its name sure is making a lot of noise.
IMO, there are two victims here, only one still lives.
No 14 yos should be having sex. The morals in this country are deplorable. I don’t believe gays or lesbians are acting in God’s favor, despite the laws in this country heading in that direction. Oddly enough, I see Newt’s willingness to call out our judges as a good thing for us. Why should judges legislate sexuality? I have no problem with Newt spouting off in the area. I may not agree with every comment, but I do agree we are heading into Hell in a handbasket and liberal courts are a big cause.
I think that SZonian makes some good points here:
