Bob Dole endorses Romney for Republican nominee

Republican elder statesman and former Senate leader Bob Dole on Sunday endorsed Mitt Romney to be the Republican presidential nominee, a day after the former Massachusetts governor received the backing of Iowa's main newspaper.

In an open letter to Iowa voters, Dole - himself a former presidential candidate - said a great deal was at stake on January 3, when Iowa votes in the first nominating contest for the 2012 presidential election.

"A number of my friends are currently candidates seeking the GOP nomination. But the time has now come for us to decide who among them can defeat Barack Obama in 2012. I've made my decision, and I believe our best hope lies in Governor Mitt Romney," Dole wrote.

"As President, Mitt Romney will succeed in turning this country around," he wrote. "He rescued a flailing Winter Olympics when it was mired in financial scandal. He was an exceptional Governor of Massachusetts, who managed to both balance the state's budget and cut taxes while dealing with an overwhelmingly Democratic state legislature."

Though Dole's endorsement is not much of a surprise this election cycle, he went a different route in 2008 when Romney made his first bid for the nomination. Four years ago Romney got in some hot water when he said that Dole - who had written a letter supporting eventual Republican nominee Senator John McCain - was the last person he would want a letter from.

I believe Dole considered becoming a Democrat when he first ran for local office in Russell, KS. I don’t recall if his parents were Democrats, or if Russell was more GOP-inclined; so he went with the majority. Dole always stood up to the conservatives and defeated them time and time again.

I don’t have an answer—if the RINO_Republicans foist Mittens on us—what CAN we do? Not only do I lack answers—I can even think of the questions. What can we do?
1. Sit on our hands and do nothing?
2. Leave the country?
3. Go to a 3rd Party?
4. Protest in the street?
5. Abandon Politics and pray—Jesus may be our only hope.

It’s tough to try to figure out what we can do-—the old song from WWII does come to mind, though—Praise the Lord! and pass the ammunition!.......

Something to think about.

Dole looks awful old and feeble, but he “knows best,” I would imagine he thinks. Wonder how KS thinks about him now

I hesitate to even think of it but—Maybe Jefferson was Right—Rebellion might be good for the nation. Maybe we should go the way of Jefferson Davis—a new Confederacy. Why support a Republic of Greed and corruption? Why support a Welfareocracy where votes are bought with free money to the poor? Maybe people without jobs on the dole shouldn’t vote? Maybe the people are getting tired of the Gay agenda and Communist ideas? Maybe things need to be shaken up a bit. In Canada their was a leader name Louis Real, a teacher, I believe, who shook things up.
