House GOP revolts on payroll deal
Politico ^ | 12-17-11 | John Allen and Jake Sherman

House Republicans are in full revolt in the wake of Senate passage of a two-month payroll tax holiday package, casting serious doubt on the fate of a bill that already has President Barack Obama’s approval.

Republican leaders were warned that they could expect a rebellion if lawmakers are forced to vote on the Senate version of the bill, according to a source on the line. After the call, it’s not clear whether Republican leaders will try to pass the bill with a combination of Republican and Democratic votes or try another version and bring the Senate back to town. Leadership is expected to reconvene this weekend to talk about how to proceed.

Keystone wasn't a vote on something later.

It forced Obama to decide the issue in 2 months...a very GOOD thing.

The key requirement is that THIS EXTENSION BE PAID FOR DEFICIT NEUTRAL.

They just have not grasped reality. If you do not empty cubicles, then you did not cut. They must cut spending to pay for this and it’s killing them to know it.

I thought getting Keystone decided on in 2 months was a good deal in exchange for the other items.

A decision of NO is perfectly acceptable to the GOP?? What logic is that? It is to fool the sheeple again just like the $100 BILLION CUT promised from the 2012 budget. No such cuts exists, it was a $300 MILLION reduction in the RATE OF GROWTH.

WAKE UP AMERICA IT IS ALREADY TOO LATE.

DeMint is the only one I trust to get anything right.

The 1200+ page porkulus the House passed is an outrage.

He very well may have said yes after the '12 election...he doesn't care about alienating the enviros then.

This forces the decision...he will either alienate the unions or the enviros. And it also allows the pipeline people to look for another location elsewhere if they have to soon rather than waiting over a year to create those jobs.

The best part is that in exchange for their endorsement of Romney they get a free subscription to National Review!

This post is part of a Rudyard Kipling poem “The Old Issue” about freedom and how it is obtained.

All we have of freedom, all we use or know—
This our fathers bought for us long and long ago.

Ancient Right unnoticed as the breath we draw—
Leave to live by no man’s leave, underneath the Law—

Lance and torch and tumult, steel and grey-goose wing,
Wrenched it, inch and ell and all, slowly from the King.

Till our fathers ‘stablished, after bloody years,
How our King is one with us, first among his peers.

So they bought us freedom—not at little cost—
Wherefore must we watch the King, lest our gain be lost.

Over all things certain, this is sure indeed,
Suffer not the old King: for we know the breed.

He and his family were on vacation... romney had a Golden I think... big blonde dog... the dog had gas so willard puts him in a crate tied to the luggage rack... on top of their vehicle... and proceeded to drive down the Interstate... right through a thunderstorm... and you guessed it... the poor pooch was exposed on top of the car.

As was clear during abortive Republican investigations into various Clinton scandals, in the culture of impunity of Washington, politics stops at corruption's edge. Almost all major corruption is either bipartisan or common enough that one side can effectively blackmail the other.

Like the IA caucus-goers who know it’s Romney’s turn, GOP House members know that the same “mis-leadership” will be intact for as long as it wants to be. That’s just the way our little Republicans are, and we can’t do anything to change it.

Fooling the sheeple is the easiest sport of all. The sheeple really like being fooled, because it would take work to stand up to oppression.

“Time for total rebellion”? Have you seen our little Republican primary voters? I bet they leave us flat again in the next two months.

But Loews and Home Depot or anyone else would be foolish
to try to sell 100 watt light bulbs after January 1st.

Why? The demand would still be there.
