I tend to agree with him. Flame away.
It is interesting to watch the Newt bashers getting after him for standing up to the usurpation of powers from the other two branches of government.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that the courts ignore the plain english of the US Constitution as well as the decisions made by the executive and legislative branches. The voters are too stupid to even care. I guess the universal suffrage thing hasn’t worked.
I agree with Newt also. It’s time to challenge the tyranny of the judiciary.
I have no idea why any Supreme that spoke in favor of “a living Constitution” is not immediately impeached. They are basically telling Congress to shove it...
I’m no fan of Newt, but I agree as well. Part of the checks and balance system includes not allowing the Supreme Court to dictate law from the bench as they did with Roe v. Wade.
I agree with Newt’s sentiments. There have been several Presidents who ignored Supreme Court decisions; Jackson-”Mr. Marshal has made the law now let him enforce it,” Lincoln, and FDR. However, while taking a technically correct Newt may appear too radical. He has admitted the attacks upon him have taken a toll.
He is saying what needs to be said. Law schools are telling their students that judges are the final authority in this land. Even conservative judges buy this. Not for nothing did Bill Buckley speak of the Supreme Court as the American papacy. Even Catholic lawyers accept the word of the court as the final word on the morality of things.
I tend to agree with the crux of his point but the way he says things at times can seriously turn people away.
We already have many people fearing the balance of power is shifting too much to the current White House and its’ “if congress won’t go along we’ll just have to do this on our own” attitude.
