When you get to retirement age, I’m sure you will take whatever pension you have earned during your many years of work.
If he had a defined-contribution 401K, would you insist he not take any of the money until he stopped working? Retirement plans are part of the employment contract, and if you don’t like it, don’t offer them and just pay people enough to buy their own retirement.
I’m happy to support pension reform — but not to take away what people have already earned. You don’t change employment contracts retroactively, unless you are a liberal who thinks work is a bad thing and people don’t deserve the compensation they have earned.
