“Among a large class (in Washington D.C.) there seemed to be a dependence upon the Government for every conceivable thing. The members of this class had little ambition to create a position for themselves, but wanted the Federal officials to create one for them.” Booker T. Washington

The more things change - the more they stay the same.

Oh, what a surprise.

Recommending MORE taxpayer dollars to be funneled to benefit African-Americans (aka, Blacks), who can then join the Union, and pay Dues, to be funneled back to the DNC, so we can do it all over again.

We've been doing this forever, and Blacks are STILL not employed (most, because the Gubmint says they have a "Right" to free stuff)

“African” Americans have been asking for and getting help from the Federal government for over forty years. How’s that workin’ out?

Report: Federal Intervention Needed to Stem African American Unemployment... The misery of U.S. joblessness has everyone’s attention, but in the African American community, high unemployment has been the norm for 50 years, in good times and bad.

If it has been the norm for 50 years, in good times and bad, then how can federal intervention change it at all? It clearly has nothing to do with opportunity or the economy. Morons.

(Hint: the 800 lb elephant in this particular room is called "culture".)

It seems to me that one of the arguments for negro slavery (back in the mid 1800s) was that the negros were just "little monkey children" who could not be expected to take care of themselves.

Today, we rightly condemn such thinking as racist.

Now, I see that "in the African American community, high unemployment has been the norm for 50 years, in good times and bad."

What are we to do about it? The question itself is (or should be) offensive ... nevertheless, there is an answer:

"the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) is calling for federal intervention to break the cycle that has kept the jobless rate among African Americans at twice the rate among whites."

Federal intervention, eh? Ummmm ... what, exactly, is the "Economic Policy Institute (EPI)" saying, here? Is it saying that African Americans cannot take care of themselves? That fed.gov must take care of them?

That sounds familiar ...

I detect the odour of racism coming from the "Economic Policy Institute (EPI)".

It smells like bullshit.

The three-part plan includes the creation of public-sector jobs, job training with job placement programs and wage subsidies for employers.

Can you say "CETA?" I knew you could....

Hmmm. What can I say that isn’t a ban offense? I’ll just say...

White man did it.

“The three-part plan includes the creation of public-sector jobs,” So the productive sector of society pays the government to provide ‘jobs’ for the unemployable...

“job training with job placement programs” Probably has some merit..but why not apprenticeships, on the job training, and the like? No redistribution required for those...

“and wage subsidies for employers.” So more faux economy...sectors that consume the productivity of others rather than creating value...
