Topic: John McManus, President of the John Birch Society, shares information on the background and various associations of former House speaker Newt Gingrich, his fondness for FDR, and his ideas on "new conservatism". Also, Rick shares a personal story of his own brief relationship with Newt's mentor, Alvin Toffler
Oh joy - another character assassination hit piece.
Forgot to mention, it starts at 12:55.
McManus once claimed Ronald Reagan has sold out to the new world order. He is a kook.
There is a lot I could say about the Republican candidates but here is my bottom line: It is what you do not what you say.
1.Newt praised FDR...so what! Newt praised Andy Stern...so what! He likes unions...yes they provide discipline and organization to workers in a country ruled by law and order. Management should be more careful as to what they hand over to unions.
2.He delivered a climate message with Pelosi...so what! He followed that by testifying AGAINST Cap ‘n’ Trade!
3.He has helped bring about Four Balanced Budgets.
4. He brought Clinton kicking and screaming to sign Welfare reform.
5.He was instrumental in 1994 making the House Republican. (First time in 40 years) Even Bachmann was a member of his Conservative Opportunity Society in the House and in the 2008 nomination process had nothing but praise for Newt. Santorum saw Newt as his role model.
And most importantly for me, I am one of those Conservatives who not only champions the Second Amendent, but sees that as my litmus test for a candidate. Newt was the only candidate to appear before the NRA 2011 annual convention and speak in support of the Second Amendment.
Romney sent the NRA convention a tape of his speech. Romney, supporting his reputation as a Progressive, Opportunist, Centrist what have you, was the first Governor of the first state to sign an Assault Rifle Ban and hand the Left a BIG win.
If they are willing to take away your right to defend yourself and your family, then they are willing to take away all the others with no hesitation.
This is my country too!!
