I like the way you think.

Thanks Lonestar. When I first learned about Governor Perry I pinged Texas Freepers to a couple Perry threads. I wanted to read feedback from Texans on what they thought about Perry. I did receive comments back on the threads, and many more positive than negative. I also received FreepMail from some Texas Freepers and their comments were mostly positive.

I think Perry and Santorum are the most honest candidates on the stage. I love Rick Santorum but realize that it does not look like he will gain in the polls, but who knows. A lot can happen in the upcoming caucus and primary elections.

Governor Perry does have executive experience, a good record in Texas and is a veteran. Those are a plus in my opinion. I really would love to see a Perry/Santorum ticket. That would put Santorum in line, as the MOST conservative, for the Presidency in the future. In looking for honesty, I pick Perry and Santorum.

Perry is soft on Islamofascism.

See Frank Gaffney’s remarks at Front Page Mag.

& speaking of which, here is a bill before the PA House to outlaw judicial decisions based on any foreign law including Sharia:

Perry is soft on Islamofascism. See Frank Gaffney’s remarks at Front Page Mag.

Perry is not soft on Islamofascism. There are a couple of far right actors, Pam Gellar and Robert Spencer, who have tried to smear Perry, but I don't think Gaffney has bought in to it. What remarks by Gaffney specifically are you refering to?

" one anti-Shariah group, Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy, has dissented and says it has no problem with Perry’s relationship with the Ismailis."http://www.salon.com/2011/08/15/perry_geller_gaffney/

More here an Gellar and Spencer

I support Rick Perry, HC, and I can assure you that if I thought for a minute that he was in bed with the muzzies, I'd have nothing to do with him.

I’ve read quite a bit on Rick Perry but never that he is soft on Islamofascism.

I went to FP Mag and searched “Frank Gaffney Rick Perry” and nothing came up.

Got a link HC?

Geert Wilders blasted the anti-Perry smear merchants on his Facebook page...

......................................................................

Geert Wilders Sidebar- Also, one must note the support of Rick Perry from a group that is adamant against Sharia Law and against POLITICAL ISLAM!

Note this quote ... “Frank Gaffney’s group came out in support of Rick Perry. Dave Reaboi, of the Center for Securit...y Policy, emailed Commentary Magazine, the most pro-Jewish, pro-Israel publication in the U.S., dismissing Justin Elliot’s Salon article. “As Salon’s in-house apologist for Islamism and crusader against conservatives ...”

We use Frank Gaffney a lot here and his “Center for Security Policy” as they fight against Sharia Law and against Political Islam.

Here is a comment from a person’s comment on that article above ...

I have been reading the hysteria that is permeating all over the web on this controvery. I first read about it in Pam Geller’s article. So I visited Geller’s website and found something very odd. After Geller put the article on her own website, the bottom line of her entry was a rah-rah for Sarah Palin. Why would she give a shout-out for Palin in what was obviously a hit piece on Perry? And the point is well taken that Geller, who would NEVER use a far left Salon piece, now relies on Salon’s creditibility.

And all this bunk that Perry will force Sha’ria law on Texans shows only that they don’t know squat about Texans. Texans are NOT forced to do anything they don’t want to do.

I also found something odd in all these hysterical webblogs claiming Perry is pro-Islamist: not one of them mentioned that Shurat HaDin, the organization that takes legal action to protect Jews, and Israel, requested that Governor Perry intervene with the Department of Justice to block the Gaza flotillas, being supported by Obama’s good friends, William Ayers and his wife, Bernadette Dohrn. Did Shurat HaDin request that from any of the other GOP candidates who perhaps had more power in D.C. than a state governor? No, but Perry requested that Eric Holder prosecute, to the full extend of our federal law, those Americans who were facilitating the Gaza flotillas. Did it do any good? No, because we currently have Islamist apologists filling the White House.

I also never saw on any of these hit pieces, now flooding the web from pro-Jewish, pro-Israel websites, the mention that Frank Gaffney’s group came out in support of Rick Perry. Dave Reaboi, of the Center for Security Policy, emailed Commentary Magazine, the most pro-Jewish, pro-Israel publication in the U.S., dismissing Justin Elliot’s Salon article. “As Salon’s in-house apologist for Islamism and crusader against conservatives, Justin Elliot clearly believed such a story, breathlessly told, would cause a great deal of friction between the Texas governor and the GOP base–who are rightfully concerned about the anti-Constitutional aspects of Shariah law in our own country, and are watching as Shariah is the rallying-cry of jihadists around the globe.” The entire context can be found at Commentary.

I have to say that I appreciate David Stein’s diligent research into this issue. It shows that at least with Mr. Stein, a cooler head has prevailed. The ironic part of all of this is that until this whole dust-up hit the web, the biggest criticism of Rick Perry was that he was too “Christian.” Now he is being accused of being a “friend, pal” of someone considered an Islamist by those who do not want to see a President Perry and would obviously perfer a President Palin. Where I come from, friends and pals are the people you have dinner with, throw bar-b-ques and invite them to and drink margaritas with. They are NOT people you give a speech for, or appear on a stage with.

Therefore ... we don’t “jump on the bandwagon” from LIBERAL and LEFTIST SOURCES (which some then take to “run with” those leftist sources) — but — we take our lead and Geert Wilders’ lead from well-established and long-standing sources - like Frank Gaffney’s group and their support of Rick Perry. Dave Reaboi, of the Center for Security Policy (Frank Gaffney’s group) has gone into that a bit more for those interested.

Thanks for the ping, I need a reminder every so often. :-)

Here is the quote from the article in Front Page re Gaffney’s speech at Restoration Weekend re infiltration of the GOP and WH by MB, Cair etc.

Frank Gaffney:

“Rick Perry is one of the candidates for President, and indeed, candidates for most other offices, and indeed incumbents, with whom Grover Norquist has a relationship. How close a relationship? You get differing opinions. I happen to have been at a meeting with Mrs. Perry, in which she jokingly — I think, but nonetheless, jokingly — said that if asked any questions, she was going to have Grover answer them. I took that badly. But I think there is a relationship there. I think that’s more worrying, frankly, than his relationship with the Emadis, for example.
But there’s a — Grover has, as you saw yourself, used his access to people through the tax drill to gain access to them on other agenda items. And I think that’s worrying.”

So you can see where I’d get the idea that Gaffney did not support Perry If you are unfamiliar with the history of Grover Norquist, the rest of the article is a great summary.

Having just read Gaffneys quote and Deaboi’s quote, I would not characterize their remarks as support for Perry en toto but as a qualifier that the specific person mentioned the Aga Khan is not the normal Shariah/Muslem Brotherhood type and that that relationship is not a problem. Wilders is broadening the meaning of Reaboi’s remarks to his own interpretation.

Reaboi is certainly not going to give a shark at a liberal rag red meat to cause infighting in the GOP especially with the anti sharia crowd.

A relationship with Norquist however is a huge problem.

I shall keep my eyes and ears open for more.....

Translation, the jury is still out and I will watch for further evidence.

The only jury I'm interested in is the one that convicts Obama and Holder.

As for Norquist, if he's a problem for Perry, he's a problem for virtually every Republican politician for the last 20 years. Gingrich, Palin, and many others have associated with him in some fashion. I hate this guilt by association BS.

I have to agree. The evidence is awful thin and judges don't announce verdicts until the jury is in.
