LifeWay Christian Bookstores has removed a Bible from its shelves because the Bible helped raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which in turn "funds Planned Parenthood" breast cancer programs.
The Bible, which was published by B&H Publishing Group, was sold with the stipulation that $1 from the sale of each Bible would go to the Komen Foundation. The foundation says on its website it gives money to Planned Parenthood, stating that funds from the foundation go to "Planned Parenthood-sponsored breast cancer health programs."
When Lifeway realized they were donating to a foundation that also donated to Planned Parenthood, they released a statement stating they "made a mistake."
"When our leadership discovered the overwhelming concern that some of Komen's affiliates were giving funds to Planned Parenthood, we began the arduous process of withdrawing this Bible from the market," stated a release by Thom S. Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay. "Though we have assurances that Komen's funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay's core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood."
The issue had become a cause célèbre for anti-abortion advocates around the country, including the websites LifeNews.com and Bound4Life.com. After Lifeway Christian Bookstores announced they were removing the Bible, Steven Ertelt, the founder of the website, posted a call to action for his readers. "Take a few minutes to say thanks," read a post on the website.
Bound4Life issued a similar post. "Thank you, Mr. Rainer and LifeWay for doing the right thing," wrote Susan Tyrrell, editor of the website. "We can pray the controversy will bring more awareness to Komen's unwise giving practices."

Thanks for posting this. I for one, did NOT know of the connection btwn Komen & PP (the things I learn here!).
PP is an abomination. They are swimming in blood-money. Why in the world do they need donations? Of any kind?
spank, whose mind is easily boggled...
Eggland´s Best Eggs also advertised for Komen while bearing a hechsher delineating kosher on the same package.
didn’t know about eggland eggs. lots of other eggs to choose from....

Really, I love Free Republic. It's a well of knowledge on everything current and historical.
I don’t believe that the money only goes to PP breast cancer work. First of all, they lie about how much non-abortion health care work they do. In some places, just a fraction of the total, with all the rest going to abortion.
Second, if PP does *any* breast cancer screening right now, it is because that money has been *diverted* from their abortion services, to keep up the pretense. If Komen gives them any money for breast cancer screening, it means that they no longer have to divert money from abortions for it.
Importantly, PP uses the same ruses with government funding, ending up with it being *exclusively* used for abortions, though under the heading of “women’s health” and “preventative medicine”.
PP is as duplicitous as Muslim charities that collect money for “starving children”, then gives it to terrorist organizations.
I should add that anti-abortion groups have a golden opportunity to open eyes by protesting at major Komen events. When 10,000 people walk by, hoping to help in the fight against breast cancer, a LOT of them would be very unhappy to learn that their money is being forwarded to Planned Parenthood to kill babies.
PP is nothing more than the priesthood of Moloch.
Even if PP’s usage of the Komen money’s was completely legit (i.e. it all went directly to its stated purpose of breast cancer screenings), by contributing to them you’d still be giving the message that they were in some way a respectable organization - rather than the abomination they are.
The fiduciary connection between SGK and PP is fairly well known, but don’t beat yourself up for not knowing, its not like the MSM is going out of their way to point out the connection. I volunteer with the Pro Life Apostolate at my parish. The Respect Life Apostolate in the Archdiocese of St. Louis has a good position statement and fairly lengthy FAQ available for all who have interest:

Blessed Advent to all...
This idea of being ‘completely legitimate’ with money being spent on non-bad things for a cause that many are against is something that needs to be washed out of peoples’ ears.
Sure if its for something they were’t even remotely doing before, but essentially they’d like to see donations for breast cancer screenings be over and above what they usually can’t collect on( people who pay their bill) and people who can’t pay(low income) so that it will in effect turn out to a net gain subsidy to the operation. Without these donations, this particular aspect of their business is probably running as a loss-leader to get people in. With the donations its all a plus for their ‘war effort’.
Sorry to bother you.
Ping!
