The race for the Republican nomination may be coming down to Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, but in the contest for the Iowa caucuses, their high-profile battle might still turn out to be a sideshow. The national party has spent the last two weeks resigning itself to a choice between the former speaker and the former Massachusetts governor. But Iowa Republicans may end up choosing between Gingrich and Representative Ron Paul.
In every post-Thanksgiving poll but one, Paul has been neck and neck for second place in Iowa. In most of them, he has lagged well behind the soaring speaker, coming in just below 20 percent while Gingrich hovers around 30. But a new Iowa survey, from Public Policy Polling, shows Gingrich leading Paul by just a single point, 22 percent to 21.
Moreover, the caucuses are not won by opinion polls alone. Theyre won by the politician who can pack Iowas churches, libraries and community centers at 7 p.m. exactly on a frigid January Tuesday, and whose supporters wont suddenly decide to back a different candidate during an hours worth of jawing, dealing and very public voting.

Jim has done an exemplary job of zotting several over the past weekend, some even from the classes of '98 and '99.
And 'gunner's graphic ....
We better hope it ends just as fast then...
Ron Paul sees no problem with any of this. He sees no problem if those radical regimes acquire nuclear weapons or biological weapons or other exotic weapons. After all, that's their decision according to the crackpot "non-interventionist" Dr. Demento. If we would just be nice to them, realize how very lovable the Islamonazis truly are and sell them whatever they want to buy (nuclear boomer subs, ICBMs, efficient modern breeder reactors, centrifuges, uranium, plutonium, or whatever) they will certainly love us!!!
Until they annihilate us and our Israeli and British allies, that is.
Providing NATO support just means having to consult and satisfy a wide variety of allies (some of whom may as well be playing for the other team), leading to strategic leaks to the enemy and limitation of goals as in Gulf War I. Enough! Unilateral action is the only way we should go to war from now on. If other nations want to join in, it must be on our terms. We executed Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for less back when America had a backbone. Granted that the Rosenbergs served far more capable masters.
The idea that the Iranian people will revolt and overthrow Ahmadinijad and the mullahs is a nice bedtime story but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. And it won't happen with Zippy the Pinhead being granted "letters of marque and reprisal" by a President Demento either, not even if he grants them blunderbusses as weapons and rowboats for transAtlantic travel and bicycles built for two for troop transport on land.
My fiancee’ just got a really nasty negative ad from Ron Paul regarding Newt. He sent back an unrepeatable answer to them. We also just found out Paul is advertising his spew on a neo nazi hate site stormfront.org. Real good Ron you crazy bedbug.
Ron Paul Goes Full Metal Truther
"And its
just think of what happened after 9/11. Immediately, before there was any assessment, there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq. So the war drums beat
" - Ron Paul
Just a few examples from the article...
REP. PAUL: I vote against it, so I don't endorse the system.
MR. RUSSERT: But when it passes overwhelmingly, you take the money back home.
REP. PAUL: I don't take it. That's the system.
I think you credit the polls with too much power and I don't think they're garbage. Something's happening in Iowa. I don't necessarily agree with it, but pretending it's a liberal media conspiracy will blow up in our faces in a couple days if Paul does as well as all the polls indicate.
Something is shifting.
When I see left-wing polls advertised by the likes of NY Times giving that nutcase Paul those kinds of numbers, I smell a rat.
They should have had their status stripped 4 years ago for starting Obama on his road to the White House.
