It turns out Christiane Amanpour's big-time career 180 -- she went from being CNN's chief foreign correspondent to anchoring ABC's Sunday talker "This Week" -- was short-lived. On Tuesday (Dec. 13), Amanpour announced that she was stepping down from the talk show gig to return to CNN and field reporting. She will, however, continue to do some work for ABC -- including primetime specials.
"It's been an incredible experience to have had a ringside seat to democracy in action at This Week," says Amanpour in a statement. "It's been an incredible honor to anchor such a prestigious program and I thank all of you who have helped me on that journey."
George Stephanopoulos, who left "This Week" to co-anchor "Good Morning America," will be returning to his old gig while continuing his "GMA" gig.
Despite landing big interviews with former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and late Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi, "This Week's" ratings had slipped under her tenure -- probably because of its drastic swing away from its traditional focus, domestic politics.
All the more reason to put the show back in the hands of Stephanopoulos as we head into a presidential election year.
ABC wanted a real Clintonian a** wipe rather than someone merely married to a Clintonian a** wipe.
“I assume the only people who actually watch that show are bloggers so they can write articles on media bias. I doubt any liberals even bothered.”
That’s the truest statement I’ve read all week.
Silver lining: George Will used to regularly shame Steponallofus. I sensed George held back on A-man-anpour -- likely on request from ABC -- and focused his vitriol on Puffington, which was too often stooping to conquer.
Will's ability to parry away Stephie's best shot (you can tell which lines Stephie stayed up all night thinking up) really alters the flow of that show.

So the “War Whore” (Ted Turner quote) is replaced by the “Drama Queen”.
Rahm’s sock puppet back in position for the election
Yeh Stephie is such an improvement over Christianne.
Looks like the globe-trotting fancy-pants is trotting off somewhere else. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Not that I will watch that insufferable show anyway. The last time I watched it was before Brinkley started looking like the Crypt Keeper.
The Clintons' finger crooks, and Mouse House puts Georgie Clintonopoulos back in charge of This Week and its roundtable of American-People-haters, just in time for another candidate-imposition season.
you actually need a personality to host a show.
Every time I see a group photo shoot of all the GMA folks, I break out laughing. He looks like a little kid being towered over by the adults.... They need to get him some phone books to stand on.....LOL!
Politically, they both suck, but Amanpoor is far worse for her unthinking fealty to Allah and his bomb throwing minions.
I won’t watch either of them. Ever.
