I'd be worried less about the "general electorate" right now. Obama's likely to win but Newt, if he's the nominee, will have time to present his case and build support.

Also, what matters is the swing states and polling shows Newt and Romney both doing very well at this point against Obama in those states.

It doesn't matter if Obama gets mammoth CA and NY turn out for "the popular vote" if he goes down hard in the electoral college.

Exactly. The "general electorate" is MUCH less important right now. The sheeple in the non-battleground states, and in the states that do NOT have a primary soon, are still MOSTLY SLEEPING. They are NOT FOLLOWING this primary as closely. Those states WILL come around and mostly coincide with the PRIMARY STATES when their time comes.

That's why the MSM keeps pumping those putrid polls about "Obama vs Gingrich" or "Obama vs Romney". They do that WHENEVER someone gets way ahead of ROMNEY, and they do NOT want to report that. They want to sucker-punch the new leading 'Anti-Romney' as much as possible, and meanwhile postpone releasing their nationwide MSM polls as long as possible.

So they report those meaningless trash polls instead, like (Obama vs Easter Bunny).

It makes no difference how people poll vs Obama right now. That will matter later, after we all coalesce around the GOP nominee.

And besides we do not necesarily WANT whomever might poll the BEST against Obama, because THAT might be a RINO or a recent 'Rat convert. We want the most conservative GOP'er who is likely to beat Obama. We can't go "hard-core fringe Right" (most likely) or we'd lose to Zero. So its a balancing act. We want someone to the right, but not unelectably "too far" to the right.

( Gingrich-haters, please do not address or reply to me.)
