Times reporter Trip Gabriel, covering the Gingrich campaign, inflated conventional pro-Israel anti-"peace process" opinions delivered by Newt Gingrich into diplomatic drama in Saturdays ("Gingrich Suggests a Reversal of Mideast Policy.) Does Newt Gingrich believe in a two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? Democratic and Republican administrations since the 1990s have adopted that framework for peace in the Middle East, but Mr. Gingrich suggested that he might break with it, calling Palestinians an invented people and the current stalled peace process delusional.
He also said the leadership of the Palestinian Authority, which has pledged to respect Israels right to exist, really harbors an enormous desire to destroy Israel.

"Mandate Palestine (alternatively called British Palestine or just Palestine) existed while the British Mandate for Palestine, which formally began in September 1923 and terminated in May 1948, was in effect. It consisted of the part of the Mandate territory to the west of a line which, in the north, followed the Jordan River.".....once again Gingrich is right.
"Palestine"...."really harbors an enormous desire to destroy Israel.....Egypt was ruled by Gamal Abdel Nasser, a firebrand nationalist whose army was the strongest in the Arab Middle East. Syria was governed by the radical Baathist Party, constantly issuing threats to push Israel into the sea.
And the crowded and angry Palestinian refugee camps dating back to the 1948 war had spawned groups in the shadows, including Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, which had launched guerrilla attacks on Israel from Lebanon and Jordan. It was all connected, says Rashid Khalidi, a historian of the Middle East at the University of Chicago.
Gingrich's pushing remark speaks truth. Always research what someone says Gingrich says!
Newt’s straight talk on this issue just might get him elected, and it will scare the living daylights out of the Arabs. A win-win.
Trying to imagine how Hussein would respond to a statement like that in a “debate”. Prepare for exploding head.
The Libs have never learned the lessons that Reagan should have but clearly failed to teach them. Remember "the Evil Empire" and "Tear Down this Wall". Those statements were politically incorrect in the extreme and certainly provocative as viewed from the Soviets side. And the result: we looked strong and Soviets folded.
If you are going to fix a “problem” you at first have to define what the problem is. Newt got the ball rolling with his statements. Personally I don’t think the so-called Palestinians are interested in a state of their own per see but the elimination of Israel and the take over of their territory. They will pretend to be negotiating while taking our money.
Newt gets it right on this one. The two state peace process is delusional. The terrorist have no interest in peaceful coexistence with Israel. Anyone that hasn’t figured that out by now is an idiot and an enabler.
And I think Turkey already has dreams of a restoration of the Ottoman Empire.
More than any other issue, abortion, taxes, border, Israel is the one issue we have failed to get right for generations. The Bible is clear, Israel is the entire catalyst for everything which happens on this Earth. Newt is the only one speaking this truth.
It's nice to see some honest, straight talk from a politician on the issue.
