Congress cannot accelerate Keystone decision: State Department
Reuters – 12 hrs ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department warned on Monday that a plan by congressional Republicans to fast track the Canada-to-Texas Keystone XL pipeline decision would violate environmental laws and force it to withhold approval.

"Should Congress impose an arbitrary deadline for the permit decision ... the department would be unable to make a determination to issue a permit for this project," the State Department said in a statement.

Environmentalists say the pipeline would threaten Nebraska's Sand Hills region and lead to higher greenhouse gas emissions, and had threatened to hold back on campaigning for Obama in the election.

The State Department is now obtaining additional information on possible alternate routes that avoid the Sand Hills in Nebraska, and believes this review could be completed in time for a decision to be made in first quarter 2013, it said.

No, it is not a foreign country wanting to install a pipeline. It is a foreign company, TransCanada Pipelines, many of whose shareholders are US citizens.

It appears to me as though the State Department is telling the Congress that it is the State Department that is running this country.

Whoever becomes President after Bracko Bama, needs to clean out te State Department. That was one of Bush’s biggest mistakes, Not cleaning out that toilet.

Civil Service rules notwithstanding, clean out that nest of vipers.Fire every liberal POS there.

Congress shouldn’t accelerate the decision nor set a deadline.

Congress should make the GD decision themselves as our founders intended.

“Environmentalists say the pipeline would threaten Nebraska’s Sand Hills region and lead to higher greenhouse gas emissions, and had threatened to hold back on campaigning for Obama in the election.”

Environmental’s are Liberals are mentally challenged. In reading the above, and in reading just about any of the hare brained allegations of the World about them one can see their zero sum perspective, their Christmas Snow Globe perspective of the flat Earth that they have.

These idiots believe if they could shake the Globe the Earth is contained, or at least turn it upside down that the Earth inside the globe would be obscured by all the pollution, as fake snow obscures Santa Claus in the Christmas globe. They believe our atmosphere is so contained as is the content of that globe, that pollution cannot escape the planet’s atmosphere, and that the pollution just keeps building, and building, and building choking us all out, driving mankind, the birds, the critters, the orchids, all to extinction. It’s worth sittin’ on a curb with a bottle of Ripple in a brown bag, or even some Thunderbird.

WE homo sapiens are so blind due our insatiable greed that we cannot exist without the environmentally superior beings to guide us towards salvation of THEIR dear Mother Earth.

OH WERE THERE A GOD!

Do I really have to comment on the sarcasm?

A recent article posted at FR from a Science based publication advised us recent satellite measurements taken above our atmosphere prove we are not living inside a Christmas Globe, or any other Globe for that matter, and that the Earth is as open to escaping GHG’s into Space as are our two greenhouses behind the main barn into the Earths atmosphere.

It’s all in the mind. The Left is comprised of many inhibited by this apparent inability to see the whole picture as it is. They see a partial of what is, and imagine all the rest of what it is they espouse so it seems.

Flame away. It’s how I see them.

Foreign products crossing the border into another country, a distinction without a difference. Is what you are making. And the concept of a foreign company getting the rights of eminent domain, I do not think that is in the Constitution.

Congress should make the GD decision themselves as our founders intended.

Which is a sign of how far we have fallen from our Founders - this should have never been under the Federal purview in the first place. Think 10th Amendment.

The last thing Canada wants to do is walk away from the better netback in the US. They'll wait for us to regain our sanity.

Horse manure. And the State Department knows it. I thought the environmental impact statements gave Keystone XL a pass. There is absolutely no reason to delay this job creator.

Keystone XL pipeline decision would violate environmental laws

If it does, looks like we just found more work for our Republican-led House. We have a few environmental laws to eradicate.

Who elected the State Department?

The voters who elected Barack Obama. Elections have consequences.

Remember how President Bush was skewered for firing 3 U.S. Attorneys. That was about like this furor over Lowe’s pulling the ads from the All American Muslim show. It was a firestorm, so he wasn’t going to change anything after that for sure. He should have though and told the Dems and the media to pound sand.

Duh, you do know that it is a foreign country that is wishing to install a pipeline in the united states.

Um, you do know that this is NOT the first transnational pipeline in North America, right?

Oh man, thanks for reminding me of this one!!! Perfect timing for bringing this one back up! The Dems wanted the U.S. Attorney General at the time, Alberto Gonzales, FIRED for firing a few attorneys, but are blaming Bush and the Tea Party over Fast and Furious!! This right here is a great example of Democrat Political Relativism between them and non-Democrats.

Correct. Canada has not ever stood in the way of this pipeline. They've approved it. They would prefer to sell to us.

Were they objecting to it in any way, the State Department might have a point. But since Canada has already approved the pipeline on their side of the border, the State Department needs to butt out and shut up. Otherwise, they are the ones interfering with international relations. Not congress.

BTW, congress could vote to defund any or even all of the whole damn State Department if they chose to do so.
