Newt Is the Problem
NRO ^ | 121111 | Avik Roy

Posted on 12/12/2011 4:03:09 PM PST by Fred

Newt Gingrich’s rise to the top of the GOP polls is fueled, in part, by Republicans’ mistrust of Mitt Romney. Romney’s signature Massachusetts health-care law, the model for Obamacare, leads many to wonder whether Romney can challenge the president on this most important domestic issue. But any conservative who opposes Romney because of Romneycare should oppose Gingrich with thrice the intensity: Newt Gingrich is one of the principal abettors of the exploding health-care entitlement state we face today. Indeed, it’s not clear what would be worse for the cause of entitlement reform: Newt’s losing to Obama or Newt’s beating him.

Newt was also an early proponent of ocial Sevcurity reform that would make it “wither on the vine”

This was a GOOD IDEA and the presstitutes hamered him for it (this was before widespread acceptance of the fact that the media of stocked with libtards and the power of Fox News)

The Establishment types are overjoyed that Gingrich has risen to be the alternative to Romney. They can hardly contain themselves.

LMAO, yeah the Establishment is real happy Newt came along. George Will, Karl Rove, Ann Coulter and Little Billy Kristol are absolutely giddy with glee at the thought of a Gingrich candidacy. NOT...

“...that is supposedly the Republican thing to do.”

Says who?

>> Mark Steyn once called Gingrich “a lily-livered ninny whom everyone thinks is a ferocious right-wing bastard.” <<

And Steyn has come out strongly against Newt within the last week or so. I guess that means Steyn is now officially a socialist RINO.

Newt was also an early proponent of ocial Sevcurity reform that would make it “wither on the vine”

That was Government Healthcare, or Medicare that would wither on the vine as seniors moved VOLUNTARILY to private medical savings acoounts that they would control instead of a bureaucrat, maintaining the doctor/patient relationship, but the media deviously took his comment out of context to make it appear he wanted the "seniors themselves" to wither on the vine. Just like they took his "I will be the nominee" quote out of context last week. They are deceitful, but many buy it, including many FReepers.

I am glad that you said that.

I have seriously come around on the Romney matter.

As Governor in Massachusetts he was preferable to any of the alternatives, but President of the USA?

I really do not think that is a good idea. Not at all.

No, it doesn’t mean any such thing. It means that he is human and flawed...as are we all.

***Newt is just unlikeable, imo. We run Newt as our candidate, I’d expect Obama to get 60% of the women’s vote.***

All the women in my family are voting for Newt as President - not for a father, husband, brother or son.

So you see Newt as an old, white, short fat little guy - funny - because his appearance never comes up in our conversations. We discuss his successes as Speaker, his grasp of American history and its importance to the human race. We appreciate his knowledge of the Government and its Constitutional limits.

We admire his courage to step back into the arena after years in the political wilderness and we especially notice that he has no political favors outstanding or his Congressional colleagues would be falling in line to support him.

Judge a man, not by his friends; but by his enemies.

One woman to another.

People said the same thing about McCain back in 2008, and look who is sitting in the White House right now because of it...

Is there anything that really distinguishes NRO from Newsweek or Time anymore? They might as well be called National Romney.

Wow, that’s right we had a few verbal altercations back in 2008 over Romney. I’d have not remembered that if you hadn’t said you’d come around.

Defeat Obama.

High five.
