Iran discovers gas field in Caspian Sea
AP Sun, Dec 11, 2011
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) Iran's oil minister says the country has discovered a huge gas field containing an estimated 50 trillion cubic feet of gas in the Caspian Sea.
**SNIP**
Iran sits atop the world's second largest proven reserves of natural gas and is the second largest OPEC oil producer.

Russia is on the Caspian and should claim this natural gas. Then hopefully they go to war with Iran
Well now, you don’t think we’re just going to let you keep all that oil and gas, do you? (To akmacrazyman in Dirty Harry voice)
That’s what I get for using Wikipedia for quick figures. :-)
Good work on the conversion. Still that’s an ENORMOUS volume. I’m finding it hard to believe that they are accurate.
They can now stop fretting about getting nuclear power up and running, right???
It is 5% of their current reserves. It is a big field, but it isn’t going to change their game.

Amazing how when the middle east is on the verge of a hot war over control of petroleum reserves and shipping routes, with Iran as the central instigator of the tensions, and then their minister of oil propaganda makes this statement of a vast gas reserve, that anyone would just accept this “news” as established fact. I doubt they’ll share their borehole logs and interpreted sonic sections with us to prove it. That saying about the truth being the first casualty isn’t just a saying.
Iran lies or exaggerates often.
YOU CALL ME LIAR?
I KEEL YOU!!!:-)
I think there’s a big gas field under their nuclear weapons facility. Those natural gas leaks can be a real problem.
“I question their numbers. Our moslem friends can be prone to exaggerate.”
Ya think?
Islam - when you want and need to lie for a living.
The wholesale price is around than half that. It has been floating around $3.50 - $4 / 1,000 Cubic Feet. This should make it even less. LNG may be the future for at least the next century.
The will probably get some investors after they file their environmental impact statement.
I’m sure the Iranian environmentalists will prevent it being exploited.
Oh heck, they’ll probably just have to flare it.
Chesepeake wants to know where they can sell for $7 a 1000.
