Vanity: Who has Romney's Books so we can prove the charge!

The claim is consistently being made that the first print of Romney's book stated something to the effect of the mandate being good for the entire country and then the 2nd print had it removed.

Does anyone have excerpts, page numbers, etc. so we can throw it in Romney's face? This seems like a no-brainer and the one candidate consistently making the claim (Perry) isn't going out of his way to prove it.

Or how about his Birth Certificate?

Wasn’t Romney’s Father born in Mexico?

Was Romney’s Father a US Citizen when Romney was born?

Where was Romney born?

Is Romney a Natural Born Citizen?

Just askin’.

Wikipedia:

Romney was born in Detroit, Michigan.[1] He was the youngest child of George W. Romney, who by 1948 had become an automobile executive, and Lenore Romney. His mother was a native of Logan, Utah, and his father had been born in Mexico to American parents.[2]

I fear that asking this is much like asking for original version of the Book of Mormon. Many rewrites, as necessary, to facilitate questions and contradictions along the way. At least Mitt has a good standard for future rewrites, and I’m thinking the original first printing of his book is now locked away in a vault in SLC.

From Wikipedia, regarding Mitt Romney's father, George Romney:

Romney entered politics by participating in a state constitutional convention to rewrite the Michigan Constitution during 1961–1962. He was elected Governor of Michigan in 1962 and was re-elected by increasingly large margins in 1964 and 1966. Romney worked to overhaul the state's financial and revenue structure, culminating in Michigan's first state income tax, and greatly expanded the size of state government. Romney was a strong supporter of the American Civil Rights Movement while governor. He briefly represented moderate Republicans against conservative Republican Barry Goldwater during the 1964 U.S. presidential election. He requested the intervention of federal troops during the 1967 Detroit riot.

So Mitt Romney's father gave Michigan their first State Income Tax, and "greatly expanded the size of state government."

Neato.

Don’t know if this helps but there are 2 books. The first was No apology. released March 2, 2010, then he revised it taking out some things and gearing it to the Tea Party and re- releasing towards the end of March.

Removed part about supporting TARP etc. Need both versions to check.
Perry brought this up in one of the 1st debates and no one denied it’s truth. Amazing how people have short memories.

You can’t throw it back in Romney’s face because Perry’s statement was incorrect.

Think of the danger we face when all books become digital, instant history rewrite,

Or when only politically correct books are made available in digital form.

Today you can still find politically incorrect books in most (or is it some) libraries and bookstores.

Imagine the digital world when the government or some corporate committee decides that a conroversial classic or bestseller will not be made available for download.

His political skeletons are rattling like crazy.

Thanks for taking the time to up the statement in question.

From No Apology: The Case for American Greatness - First Edition:

"From now on, no one in Massachusetts has to worry about losing his or her health insurance if there is a job change or a loss in income; everyone is insured and pays only what he or she can afford. It’s portable, affordable health insurance—something people have been talking about for decades. We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country, and it can be done without letting government take over health care."

The line “We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country, and it can be done without letting government take over health care.” is missing from the subsequent editions. The Romney camp explains this as a clarification; from FactCheck.org More Baloney… and confirmed at various other sites:

As we have written a couple of times before, the book was revised and this line was removed: “We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country.” But the phrase “the same thing” refers to the goals of the state law: “portable, affordable health insurance,” not the controversial individual mandate or the entire law. Romney saw the Massachusetts plan as a potential model for other states, if they so choose, but not as a federal mandate.

It's as simple as that. The reader is left to make what he wishes from the statement as well as its' subsequent omission regardless of what these web sites or pundits purport. It's a state of mind; rather like parsing
what "is" is

Take your birther nonsense and stuff it!

George Romney was born in Mexico to two U.S. citizen parents. Mexico forbid children of foreign citizens from Mexican citizenship. Mitt's father was never anything except a U.S. citizen. Even under your nincompoop theories, Mitt Romney is a "natural born citizen."

The ineligible Mitt 'Hussein' Romney:
"I bet you $10,000 that you did not even know
that I and Bain made money from the 911 Victory Mosque land sale.
"

"(The GroundZero Mosque) cleared its final hurdle ….
developers plan to build the $100 million center which will include a mosque.
Since its incipient stages in July 2009, when a Muslim-run real-estate development
company purchased the damaged, vacant building and land where the new center
will be built, the project has sparked controversy and debate.
.... the tattered building that was bought by the Muslim real estate company had
been owned by a subsidiary of Bain Capital, a company Romney founded in 1984.

So it’s OK if his company can profit off the sale of the land ."

“Bain Capital, has cut checks totaling $90,000 to Romney’s operation. “
