when you're talking about Glenn Beck now he actually, the other day, called you a progressive on FOX Business channel. What do you say to that sort of claim?"
Gingrich: "I don't know. It depends on what standard you're using, you know? The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years. And we did so by cutting taxes and increasing employment so people went back to work, they left welfare, they left food stamps, they left unemployment, they left Medicaid. Who else has that record of achievement? I worked with Reagan in '79, '80. I worked with Reagan in defeating the Soviet Empire. I think those are relatively conservative credentials."

I was listening this morning when Beck called Newt a progressive and either shortly before or shortly after said that if he had to vote “TODAY” he’d vote for Romney.
Now how in the hell does THAT makes ANY sense?
I agree. It wasn’t until I actually researched Teddy Roosevelt, a progressive, that I realized how much I did not like the man’s politics. He is nearly as responsible as FDR and Woodrow Wilson for the mess we are in today. Republican ‘progressives’ are the doormen of the devil that is our modern left. They make possible what the left by itself could never accomplish on its own.
“Now how in the hell does THAT makes ANY sense?”
Yeah Beck is a hypocrite. He sees all of these flaws with each conservative, but Romney is just fine.
He is supporting Romney because he is a Mormon.
It’s just as simple as that.
You lie! He has done no such thing.
I shouldn’t have used the word Perrybot cuz that caused my comment to be misunderstood.
I meant to say that I am impressed with Rick lately, unhappy with the others and looking for Perry fans on FR. That’s all.
Reviewing your recent posting history all it is comprised of is negative attacks.
If not Newt who then? And why?
Hmm. Three hours and no response? Perhaps “half” hasn’t made up his mind whom to support in this nomination process.....and just finds it much more fun and easy to attack, rather than to support.
You’re right, dangus. I overreacted without having proof.
The word progressive makes me batty.
Try listening to complete sentences. He said if it came down to Obama or Romney he would vote for Romney, and I would bet that most freepers would do exactly that, just like we did for McCain.
up on Drudge ...Beck says he’d consider voting Ron Paul in 3rd party over Gingrich...this guy has lost his damn fool mind
understood it was a shorthand way to make your point, and to be honest, it might look like I directed that disclaimer comment to you, but I was raally disclaiming it to annoy those who namecall like that.
We are still here. We don’t infest other threads very much compared to how many of us are on pro Perry threads.
But I, for one, do occasionally drop by other threads.
“He is supporting Romney because he is a Mormon.”
I have yet to meet anyone that supports Romney that is not a Mormon. It;s all hypocritical. If you took Romneys’ flips and flops and issues positions then and now, and attached them to any other candidate....no Mormon would support them.
This and the penchant they have for calling themselves “Christian” are about the only things that really bug me about the Mormons.
You can put me on a Perry ping list if there is one.
Newt’s reply was GREAT!
The tag of “progressive” has been hijacked by the left and ignores its true meaning:
“Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods”
Progress is whatever the speaker wants it to be. Moving toward tradition values is progress to most of us here at FR.
And, Beck jumped the shark when he left Fox and became Romney’s surrogate.
We are in this together, folks....
“tradition” should be “traditional”
Sorry.
I know it looks like he will win the nomination. And the conservative base will vote third party or stay home. 4 more years of Obama.
Conservatives are tired of being told to roll over for these weak, progressive and lame candidates. This is the GOPs last chance to save country and party. A tsunami is coming and they will be swept away simply because they elect to support progressive and big government ideas. NO MORE.
Beck has carved out an anti Republican, anti Democrat niche. Over a period of time. He’s being consistent with that.
He thinks Newt is a Progressive at heart and thinks Paul isn’t, although he disagrees with Paul on several issues.
This says he would consider it. Not he would do it.
For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t vote for Paul under any conceivable scenario...
I don’t have the ping list but will see to it that you get with who does have it.
Beck is not supporting Romney. This is an out and out lie.
Beck wants the most conservative available. He is leaning bachman and santorum right now. He is against romney,, Perry and newt because they are all establishment republicans that have or are supporting radical left wing agendas in one form or another.
“And the conservative base will vote third party or stay home. 4 more years of Obama.”
WRONG.
Conservatives will vote for Gingrich because he is a conservative, albeit a flawed one.
The only people who will stay home will be the 1% of Third Party people and about 2-3% (about half) of the Paulists. Some of them are sane and will vote Gingrich, knowing that a vote for Paul is putting Obama in.
