There was an opt out on the Gardasil issue.

And there was no "individual mandate" involved. Nobody was being forced to pay for something they did not want.


The taxpayers were going to have to cover the cost for those who couldn't afford it. That's definitely being "forced to pay for something they did not want" since Perry didn't feel the need to discuss it with the taxpayers or the legislation.

Perry wouldn't have had any problems over Gardasil if he had discussed it with parents and the legislature before signing the EO.

The way that bill was crafted was to LOWER the costs to the taxpayer.

That is what the so called “mandate” was about
It got insurance to cover the bulk of the cost of the vaccine.

That hardly constitutes an "individual mandate" in the context of Obamacare, however, as was claimed.

I agree that Perry mismanaged the issue. And, at this time, I'm not a Perry supporter. But I do cringe when I see people making claims about candidates that simply are not true.
