Where: Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
When: 9 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. PST, Saturday, December 10, 2011. Debate scheduled to last two hours.
Broadcast on: ABC Televsion.
Moderators: Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos.
Candidates: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.
I bet Perry surges after tonight.
Neera whatshername: “Gingrich did not get attacked....”
Huh? What debate did SHE watch?!
Surprisingly, the talking heads are all proclaiming Newt the winner.
Funny that’s how I interprted it too.
“The dumb guy made things really simple for the even dumber guys.”
Hank
Perry’s getting better with each debate....He had the best quote of the night:
“The president is the problem, not something that Newt Gingrich said.”
I don’t knock other candidates ...my enemy is Obama!
It has to do with being honest and not being a dumbass. The latter being something you’ve embraced.
Romney....the man who’s lived 68 years and never in his life ever ever rocked the boat...not once...and he is so proud of that.
Anyone know a site with a replay? It wasn’t on local TV here in San Antonio and would like to watch the whole thing.
She sucks.
She is begging for Cain supporters.
He may not be presidential material but Ron Paul would scare the banksters really badly as Treasury secretary.
Perry stumbles in debates yet I sure like his approach to unwind the whole mess of Washington and start over.
Newt WON! imagine the tremendous pressure he STOOD up to!!! the man remained cool and HONEST! the truth about Palestinians needs to be told..Newt told it. The tradgedy of NASA is also something that could impact our future. His idea on children working inside their schools to earn a little pocket money is right ON...when they asked him about marriage..he also answered HONESTLY. I KNOW that other candidates had they been in Newts shoes tonight and UP in the polls and the target would have crumbled. WOOT WOOT I SALUTE YOU NEWT...BRING IT ON HOME
That simply not true. Wile Calista had a significant role in leading, he was aboslutely compelled when he started to research JPII.
As far as the mainstream goes, ABC did a good job tonight. Despite the few zingers, the mods were polite, did not interrupt, and provided latitude.
1. Newt/Perry/Santorum (TIE)
4. Bachmann
5. Paul
6. Mitt - WILL NEVER EVER VOTE FOR HIM
7. Diane - finishes above Steffy only because of the comedy value
8. Steffy - A-HOLE
Have to say Romney had a pretty good line with “the only signs you see at these debates are Ron Pauls”
The set-up for these debates favors those who do perform well in debates but then so does the office for any candidate who is facing cameras and open mikes 24/7.
CA has had term limits for 20 years. They are an abject failure. The politicians change but the bureaucrats and lobbyists go on forever.
Jim,
THANK-YOU so very much for this site!!!!!
The reality is that we are the intermediary and have been ever since the Camp David Accords. If Newt wants us to disengage from these negoitations, then what is his solution? I serioiusy doubt that any US President will walk away from the negotiations or involvement in the region. We have strategic interests that must be advanced.
I have to admit this was by far his best debate. That’s a pretty low bar, but he was coherent, even eloquent at times.
Hank
My Debate two-cents:
WINNERS: Gingrich, Romney, Perry, in that order. Nothing Changes.
LOSER: Steffy Stephanapoulis. He didn’t get the revenge against Gingrich he has been after, FOR YEARS. Gingrich knocked every hit attempt out of the park, and even answered the fidelity question well.
Perry did better than he has in the past, but he’s still an Also-Ran, imho.
That $10,000 bet is going to HAUNT Romney. The leftist Obama Jouno-listers are already all over that.
