Where: Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
When: 9 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. PST, Saturday, December 10, 2011. Debate scheduled to last two hours.
Broadcast on: ABC Televsion.
Moderators: Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos.
Candidates: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.
My debate score:
Debate score:
1. Gingrich- clear winner
2. Perry- did very well
3. Paul- I agree with so many things he says, but he’s nutty
4. Bachman - true conservative, the one that should be on top
5. Santorum - irritates me, don’t know why
6. Romney- pile of dog doo
and I would vote for any one of the above in the general election against the Kenyan Indonesian Marxist Muslim homo Barry Hussein Soetoro, the usurper in the WH.
I lived in DFW for four years. Don’t feel bad - up here we have a worse liberal rag, the Kansas City Star (AND Claire McCaskill as Senator but hopefully not after next year. She’s started another crash diet, in full campaign mode).
In that video clip which was an excerpt of his entire comment, it still took him 1 minute 9 seconds to clarify, correct himself a few times and finally get to the point he was trying to make in those last great 3 seconds. Right now Perry’s best option would be to privately hire a public speaking coach and take him/her on the road with him.
I think he did VERY well. I could easily vote for Perry but I have to vote for the one that I think will beat the Kenyan.
LOL!
He's a master teleprompter reader - hollow puppet
Romney lost the whole debate just on that one.
At the post-debate ABC analysis, someone mentioned
that $10K is about 1/4th of avg income of a family.
That joke is a big turn-off for many middle-income
families.
Perry was strong tonight. I loved his bringing up the drone, and saying Obama is the problem, not something Newt said. It was brilliant to leave Mittney holding the bag with the lame $10,000 bet. Newt had a great night, but I’m not convinced he can keep his ego in check and avoid an implosion.
This isn’t the first time Perry showed up Mitt...people railed at Rick for bringing up Mitt’s illegal alien worker, but recall Perry got Mitt to say that he couldn’t have illegals, for goodness sakes, because he’s running for President. Such a political answer, and a slip up by revealing his totally political mindset on the issue.
Now Perry goads Mitt into offering a $10,000 bet when they were talking about Mitt’s book versions and his position on healthcare mandates for all the states, and that line is ripping Romney to shreds.
Newt held his own, Michelle continued to attack her peers, Romney looked desperate, Paul managed to string together at least two coherent sentences, and Santorum bored everyone to tears. It looks like it may come down to Newt vs Perry.
” - - - Funny thing is Perry is an excellent public speaker, but he cant debate for crap. Go figure.”
Maybe this will help. Texas is a State with 5 distinct areas. All 5 areas have many things in common including an ease in striking up a friendly conversation with strangers, and a comfortable manner of easing into a serious discussion of a topic on a big or small stage/meeting/setting.
A sound-bite, Q and A, (these are NOT debates), live TV format that is moderated by East Coast Libs hired by the MSM is the viper pit that Texans must adapt quickly to, as it is opposite to what they are used to. Dr. Ron Paul is an excellent example of a Texan that has adjusted well to this system.
I missed the ABC Q & A show, but it looks like y’all think Perry has adjusted better to the Q & A format.
The best example of a politically astute, slow-talking man from a friendly, folksy State is Will Rogers, from Oklahoma.
BTW, Will famously said: “I never met a man I didn’t like - - - .” But Will never did meet Obama.
I rather doubt Newt needs anyone to tell him how to 'cool it'. He really IS the smartest guy in the room. I didn't see anything different with Newt tonight. Newt is just being Newt - which is one reason he's winning. He isn't putting on a show - he's simply telling it like he sees it.
That resonates with people. People pick up on phoney - which is why the Establishment's Golden Boy can't get traction.
If Perry surges after tonight, it will be because while everyone was dithering about Newt’s Palestinian comment, Perry came in like a laser beam on the REAL issue: Obama’s incompetence, and handing top technological secrets to the Iranians and Chicoms. Interesting that his best moment to date was on Foreign Affairs rather than states rights or domestic politics.
This was something BAD about Palestine and their leaders and culture which ABC did NOT want going out live and into the living rooms of millions of Americans. I know my beloved Herman Cain would have said something like this, too, and they would have tried to shut him up on it too (or maybe threaten his grandchildren)...
Stand by
Yes, put the fork in Romney. He’s done.
Bingo
If that's Perry's biggest offense, I'll take it. All in all I think he's a true conservative and this constant barrage of attacks on him puzzle me.
